I guess we gave up being annoyed by trivial things.

This isn't two minutes hate-worthy, but I'm still irritated enough to need to get this off my chest.

Last night, the KUSC show Modern Times featured a program organized around airing music written since 2000. So, of course, they didn't feature a single composer under the age of 55! The 'youngest'--and I use that word quite relatively--was the Finnish composer-conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, who is 56 (57 in June).

Yet another fine opportunity... that was completely wasted.

At the risk of doing something that is also a complete waste of time, I'm going to ask if you have a point, mickthinks, or if this is simply more of your typically mindless gainsaying.

It might help if I were to reveal who the four composers were who were featured: John Corigliano, Paul Moravec, Jouni Kaipainen, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. Now, if you know enough about contemporary classical to make discussion of it with you worthwhile, you have to be aware that none of these four men need more exposure, at least not to an audience of people who would listen from ten to midnight on a Saturday evening to hear new music. It was the opportunity to introduce comparatively young composers who haven't yet achieved equivalent levels of recognition that was wasted. I would have even been happy with challenging works by middle-aged composers without that group's high profile. Now, do you have something relevant to say to that, or were you just fluffing your ego as usual?

So they didn't waste the opportunity to make a programme offering music composed this century at all (which was the programme as billed), but they completely wasted the opportunity to make a different programme which they could have made if they had consulted you.

Yep, I see how your ego led you to a "complete waste".

Now, do you have something relevant to say to that, or were you just fluffing your ego as usual?

So then you didn't have anything relevant to add. As expected. Now I can go back to ignoring you without risking the chance of missing any content.

You are not the only judge of relevance, Null (though you may like to think you are).

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over?

I'm supposed to answer for something I posted 6 months ago, something that probably made perfect sense at the time? Fuck you. I've slept and ate many times since then. I'm not even sure if I remember what I had for breakfast yesterday.

The conversation I had with my dad Sunday night:

"Hey, I was thinking if you aren't busy next weekend I could come up for a visit. Don't tell D (7 year old brother) yet, though. I haven't checked the flight loads."*

Oh, that would be great!"

Not even five minutes later:

"Guess what? Your sister is going to visit you next weekend!"

:glare:

*I'm an airline employee and would fly standby

I don't get how some people repeatedly give third parties my email address and apparently never even notice that they're not getting their stuff. What I get even less is when I contact a business to tell them to take my email address off someone else's account and they outright refuse, then continue to send me emails with confidentiality notices.
