Nothing that I know of. The image showed up on one of the sites linked to in this thread; I don't even remember which one, now. I saw it and thought, "At last, a sensible Batgirl costume!".
Darn. Oh well, I was just curious what materials she used. Looks as legit as those used in the movies.
The ones I am familiar with are roadside shacks filled with gaffes. But by all means, let's look at the size of the buildings.
What prevents a Creationist Museum from being a science museum? Peer review.
What does the Tate have copious amounts of? Peer review.
If you are going to make the argument that "if anything is art, nothing is," the Tate is a terrible place to start.
Among my dozens and dozens of artist friends, when the ugly head of "that isn't art" rears its head, it is always because someone got a show while their work didn't.
Unless your complaint is that it's not really art because it wasn't done in the only particular way you consider to be art. In which case, professionally complain all you want!
This would be a good retort if it didn't commit you to regarding that this is art.
How, exactly, am I committed to regarding that as art by that retort?
I believe the point I was making was about the cliche of dismissing criticism because the critic isn't creating something better or whatever.
Particularly since it can be applied to your own hobby horse. If "your kid could paint that" why didn't they? If conceptual art is so easy, why don't you do it and make a quick buck? etc.
Oh yes well that indisputably ART. Nobody has or would ever dare disparage it as, say, meaningless cheesecake. Why can't you just accept that you don't get to decide what is or what isn't art? Different works resonate with different people at different times and that's all, folks. So what's it to you? Your desire to demarcate, ensuring of course that what you do is well within the boundaries you've arbitrarily established, is a control pathology that has nothing to do with anything outside of yourself. Let it go.
Damn, I don't think I've ever seen male Link drawn quite so ... coy. I'd love to see Hawkeye try to pull off that pout. It goes all the way to the eyes, I bet Tyra would call them "pies".

Because I do real art. That's why. It's not about the money, I just enjoy doing it. I couldn't attach my name to a piece of conceptutal "art" anymore than you could start a cult. I could only do it as a prank, but I would view that as a waste of my time--I could be making something worthwile.
It's not hard at all. Here's a few off the top of my head:
Take a piece of paper, write something on it (or don't), then paint over the words (if they are there) until they can't be seen anymore (or couldn't if they were actually there). Have a card that goes along with the work that says something is written on the paper. The work calls into question how the viewer can really know that words are written on the paper.
Cut an apple in half. Put one piece in a jar of ethyl alcohol to preserve it. Leave the other half out to rot. The work is a meditation on the ephemerality of life.
Take some shiny mylar and paint it jet black, then use a stylus to write via scraping paint away, leaving reflective words. Use the Nietzsche quote about the abyss gazing back.
Oh yes well that indisputably ART. Nobody has or would ever dare disparage it as, say, meaningless cheesecake.
Uh, that's not mine. You're being cruel to someone else.
It's a female Link, drawn by a female artist, so I thought it fit for the thread.
Tons of art is meaningless, but that doesn't make it valueless. What does a finely crafted piece of pottery mean? As a general rule, nothing. A detailed painting of a bird? Again, unless more is supplied, nothing. Just a bird.
Maria Elena Grimmett is only 14, but she already has a seven-page resume.
The teen has become a highly decorated scientist for her research on groundwater contaminants. She is also the youngest author to be published in the Journal of Environmental Quality. Out of 30 finalists, she was awarded first place in mathematics in the 2012 Broadcom MASTERS competition, the national science, technology, engineering, and math competition for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders.
She also has a planet named after her because of all of her research achievements. Minor Planet 27410, discovered by the Linear Project of MIT Lincoln Laboratory, which orbits between Mars and Jupiter, was named Grimmett in 2011 and is recognized by the International Astronomical Union.
And if that wasn’t enough, Maria Elena made history at the 56th annual Palm Beach County Science and Engineering Fair in December when all judges awarded her perfect scores—the first time that’s happened in the competition’s history.
I spent the weekend mainlining theater at the Stratford Festival. This morning we went to the slow food farmer's market in the center of town and met the most adorable young girl. I asked her mother for permission to take her picture and I give you, baby ES.
Ridiculously cute and fist-pumpingly awesome. She was so happy to be there in her space suit she was jumping up in down. I hope she does make it to space one day.

Interesting, my two favorite actors in the original, Bernard Hill and Christopher Lee, are replaced by my two favorite actors in the gender swapped version, Catherine Deneuve and Helen Mirren.
