Re: Miscellany
After a time honored tradition of 2 whole years, I have decided we will not be traveling for Kiddo's birthday this year. We were gonna go to Orlando again, this time to Universal Studios, but due to cross country moves and work schedules, we are 6-10 short of the optimum number of people to keep the fuck out of my house by traveling. It's also good because now we can go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter during a slow time of year instead of the busiest week of the year.
So now what? Do I have to do a fucking party? Because I don't wanna and am all anti-social.

Re: Miscellany
What does kiddo want? Does he have a close friend or two for a more low-key party? Is he (or a friend) old enough for a sleep-over?

Kiddo is a go with the flow guy. He really doesn't care...although he still thinks we're going to Harry Potter World on accounta I just made the decision like an hour ago. Anyway yeah, he has 4 what I consider good friends, and we could do an arcade or putt-putt or something maybe.

Re: Miscellany
5 minutes or so is all it took to get an idea! What about an Indiana Jones theme picnic party (at a park) with a treasure hunt? Hubby is good at games like that (all day pirate adventure with rhyming clues in bottles. in the water, ending with digging up a full size treasure chest at Pirates Cove?...yep, hubby did that). I am thinking different treasures with corresponding clues, like "The Egyptian Trail to find the of Rah", and or an Aztec trail/treasure etc.? Sound good?

Re: Miscellany
I'm in!
Also, I'm psychic. @ wei: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Sounds like a lot more work than not having a party. But yeah, sounds fun as hell.

Re: Miscellany
That sounds like a great idea, but so much work. More power to you, you must love your kid more than I love mine.

Re: Miscellany
It's not the work I mind (and really I'll need to print off some hieroglyphs or something and hide some treasure is all and trip planning/taking is not exactly work-free), it's the tons of people in my house that drives me nuts. Srsly. We originally started taking trips because 3 years ago I had in-my-house guests for 3 weeks, plus a party in my house, just after Christmas in my house and I was a fucking wreck for a month.
ES, why are you psychic, did I miss the prediction?
ETA: Hubby just rushed in asking me if I am okay after emailing him about theme parties and such because that is totally NOT ME

This is p cool. I might even make a permanent version for the front of the house.
Make: Online : Print-and-fold vertical sundial generator
Also, the new diskless Netflix player for the PS3 is also p cool so far.

I just had the idea to test Google instant on every letter in the alphabet. At least two of these (k&r) seem to have been chosen because they're geographically close to me. Somehow I didn't realize Google was so targeted.

Re: Miscellany
I'm getting different ones for some of those, most of them local, e.g., q is qwest, r is redrocks, d is denver post, k is king soopers. Weird how they're all brands, though, and none are just generic words.

I think I've visited every site on my list except zappos, jet blue and round rock express. I get rr express because I live near Round Rock, but I don't really get the others.

Re: Miscellany
This might have fit into Two Minutes of Haet, but I don't feel any particular ire. And since we don't have a Two Minutes of I Don't Know What, I put it here.
Both talking heads bother me to some extent. She for holding opinions I dislike and possibly being a not pleasant human bean. And him for airing their shared laundry in public as an example of what he thinks about her now. Okay, so the youtubers and other sundry internetters are cheering that some uppity broad got what she deserved on the CSPAN (lol@cspan, amirite). But, honestly, does anyone deserve that? I mean besides dumb governmenters who say dumb things. I think the most worst thing about this youtube is that it cuts off before she has a chance to reclaim her honor or whatever she said in response. Her initial reaction suggests she took his vitriol in stride, but it's entirely possible that the first reaction is one that masks the real hurt that happens; and rather than be a terrible person and say unkind things (or walk off, aka pulling a whoopie, huh! huh!) she puts on a public face and takes it (like a man, yeah I said it!)
Or maybe I'm outthinking myself yet again.

Re: Miscellany
My identical cousin had a baby 25 hours ago, and there's still no pictures up on facebook or email or anything. On the one hand, I'm like, why do I care since I think all newborn photos look the same and usually don't care to look at them, and then on the other hand I'm like why the hell are there no pictures yet?
