I don't know if that is true.

Laughter out of context to a situation or exaggerated is called paradoxical laughter. It’s related to schizophrenia and other neurological disorders

I don't know if that is true either.

But in both cases, I can say it is true.

However, these days somebody laughing alone or late at night might just be watching funny shit on their phone, so one shouldn't rush to judgement.

That seems completely disingenuous to me. You don't really want to have a discussion about anything, you just want to score points in your bizarre game.

Ah, now I see. You are confusing my disdain and ignoring your trolling for disingenuous.

I simply ignore comments and people who I know, from experience, are attention whores, immature and in the end, boring.

Everything you posted fits your own description. You are doing what you seem to be upset about.

I find that amusing, but rarely respond to internet baby cries. This post is an exception.

Unexpectedly seeing a unicyclist is not really a complete study of humour...

The hypothesis is probably sound but I think that article is missing a lot.

Yeah, they did say the dreaded more study for sure. Dig around and you’ll find a few pieces on the idea of jokes being an aggressive hierarchy enforcement tool.

Wow. That is not only obscure, really ancient, but shows a dedication to remembering the past. I have no idea what the joke is, because I don't know the players well enough. I could simply ask, but experience shows that won't actually help.

I bring this up in response to the accusations that somehow the league of morons are sure I am somehow disingenuous, rather than simply honest and blunt.

As an example:

It's very odd that somebody can't answer a direct question. "We have been undercounting" in the context of "in spite of" isn't clear at all what you are claiming.

What is the Covid misinformation you are speaking of? And who is "we" in context of your claim?

You mean multinational pharmaceutical corporations? Most governments, and especially the Chinese? Or something else?

What exactly are you trying to say here?
Who do you believe has been, or currently is, undercounting?

It's a simple request.

I’ve posted about the undercount including peer reviewed sources repeatedly.

I find such non answers to be absurd. Somebody is making a claim, but rather than state clearly what they are claiming, they avoid answering. Then out of the blue, here comes another actor, who also avoids answering, but now wants to claim I'm somehow the problem. Then we have

That's all a non-sequitur, but he can't see that. Priceless.

To avoid any confusion, I am not expecting you, or anyone else here, to understand the matter. Oh no. There is zero hope this will make any difference, I just find it amusing to point something out, and watch the mental gymnastics involved to avoid understanding any of it. By you.

Since I don't know who Miss Shelby is, or have enough experience here to know the reference.

Which is OK. But the question was never answered.

If I was making a claim about Covid statistics, or anything else, I would clearly state what it is. Then add sources for why.

I wouldn't leave out the main point in my post. Then avoid answering any questions about it.

How does this relate to a sense of humor? I find it funny in a way that is ineffable.

There is a meta loop humor when somebody avoids answering, by claiming you are not answering. It's very common, especially among "skeptics"

Then they start telling you what you are really thinking or doing, because somehow they have supernatural powers of perception, and can read your mind. If it was just normal social media, it wouldn't be funny. It's only funny because skeptics do it.

Just about every academic paper will include that statement, and usually it only means "keep funding us".

John Allen Paulos did a book on mathematics and humor in which he argued, I think persuasively, that actual humor is mostly unexpected context-switches.

I'm trying to figure out if a fart is an unexpected context-switch

Because goddamn if something as simple as a fart can't cause the most violent outburst of laughter.

Timing is, of course, everything.
