Re: Good King Trump
Now, wtf is this: crazy old man says random shit:
Donald Trump stuns allies by signalling backing for tighter gun control | US news | The Guardian
Quote:
Within hours of the meeting’s conclusion, conservatives and some Republicans turned on Trump
|
Surprise.
Of course "Trump" "Hillary Clinton will take your guns away" can't be trusted to stick to one position for more than a day, but anything that dampens his Republican support can't be all bad.
Quote:
Republicans ... are no longer sure what the path forward will be.
“Everybody’s trying to absorb what we just heard,” Cornyn said.

ie, wait for the crazy old man to forget this and repeat the last thing he heard which will now be from the NRA.

Re: Good King Trump
Who's Tweeting from the Oval Office? - Towards Data Science
I found a couple different models (with associated bots) that are meant to identify which tweets are actually written by Trump. The bot for the article linked above is here: Who's Tweeting from the Oval Office? (@whosintheoval) | Twitter This account is also a way to follow Trump without adding to his follower count, if you care about that, but provides additional information that you don't get from a plain retweet.
The basic data that enables these models is the insight that before 2017, Trump's personal phone was an Android. Which Twitter interface you used to make a tweet is included in the metadata (some of which is hidden in the standard Twitter interfaces), and it was obvious that things like tweets promoting upcoming appearances were made by staffers (which would be standard practice anyway). Those tweets would always be made from an iPhone. Angry 4 am tweets, on the other hand, tended to come from an Android phone. The long history of Trump tweets before the campaign also would be dominated by tweets personally authored (or at least dictated) by Trump. Supplemental data and features differs between the two bots. The bot that I prefer uses tweets from people within Trump's administration/campaign who are known or suspected to have or have had access to his Twitter account, which may help pick up on stylistic features that Trump aides use unwittingly even when they're imitating his style. For example, the frequency of "the" is generally a predictive feature for identifying the gender of an author, but it's doubtful many non-linguists would be aware of this and manipulate this if they were trying to imitate the other gender. It's likely some of their idiolects carry over even when Trump's aides are trying to imitate Trump even if it's fairly subtle.
I'm not sure Trump even uses a computer at all, so I also imagine that any tweet that comes from a desktop browser or application does not come from Trump.
Anyway, my preference for the one bot is based primarily on the results on this tweet (and some similar tweets):
I am approximately 100% certain that Trump had no part in composing that tweet, based on the style and sentiments. That one is fairly easy to identify, and so a good model should be able to get the right answer I think.
Read the article if you're curious about how it works.

Well hell, you never have been able to know what the US is going to do. I'm not sure how different this is from the Bush years.

I expect drilling rig and construction equipment manufacturers to be hit hard and lose more jobs than will be gained in the steel industry. I expect to see more Chinese-built drilling rigs and construction equipment sold here as a direct result, which may result in more danger to human life and the environment due to lax quality control.

Trump praises Chinese president extending tenure 'for life'
Quote:
“He’s now president for life, president for life. And he’s great,” Trump said, according to audio of excerpts of Trump’s remarks at a closed-door fundraiser in Florida aired by CNN.“And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot someday,” Trump said to cheers and applause from supporters.

So he likes the idea of being President for Life?

Trump is an idiot though. The really crappy part is "cheers and applause from supporters". WTF is wrong with these people? (No, don't answer)

Crumb?
I have my doubts.
He's from around here, JoeP. I suppose it's possible that he could be imbibing a Miller-Coors concoction, but it's far, far more likely that it is some local craft beer that's doing the talking.
Likely quite obscure.
He's probably at the local growlerly getting his refill.

Future beer comes in foil pouches. I know this because I saw Heartbeeps back in the 1980s. That movie was an entirely accurate prediction of the future of robotics and society, said no one ever.
But... there is this.

Heartbeeps is the one where the robots fall in love? I can't believe I vaguely remember that movie.

I remember it because it had Andy Kaufman in it, but I don't, like, REMEMBER remember it the way a certain Heartbeeps superfan up there does.

I remember John Candy drinking beer from foil pouches. That's what I got out of that movie.
