The Cracker discussion always made me wonder if anyone has looked at regional variations in pop/rock music. While we have the national top 40 lists, etc., I always was curious if certain songs were more popular in certain areas, etc.

I know here in the 'burgh, there are some local favorites that made it big years ago. Donny Iris is still HUGE here. The Clarks are originally from here, so you hear their songs alot, too.

I would love to hear nick cave on the radio. Especially Birthday Party songs.

I'll second Matthew Sweet.

For soem reason, I can't get into Cracker. Chicago stations played the absolute shit out of Low when it came out, to the degree that I developed an abiding hatred for Cracker.

raspberry bullets hooked me up with an australian internet station that does actually play some nick cave and i listened to an interview with him as well.

and on halloween the local alternative station, 99x played redright hand, first and only time i had ever heard nick cave on a us station.

but i never really dug birthday party, i think its ok, but so many bad seeds cds are almost infinitely better.
