In Boston and Denver, AMC Theaters is
test marketing a movie subscription service that would charge $35 per month for a movie per day subscription, $45 for premium theaters (IMAX and the like). The catch, you can't see the same movie more than once, and it doesn't cover concessions. And, I bet you can't use it for two people to see 15 movies per month either.
Would you subscribe?
I might. It would have saved us money, even back in 1978-1980 when theater tickets were $3.25. We lived in Woodward, Oklahoma, where there was nothing to do except bowling and bars and two movie theaters and a drive-in. We didn't hang out in bars and we didn't have cable tv, so we went to just about every movie that came to town, three per week most of the year, five per week when the drive-in theater was open. We saw a lot of movies, a lot of bad movies, some really bad.
