I think a system that doesn't make a two party monopoly inevitable would change things up (e.g. Cordocet voting) - even if they would still dominate for a while, gradually voters would realize, wait a minute, I don't have to vote for these assholes. And once Democrats and Republicans can't expect to get votes, they'll have to become more competitive, but doing such things as reducing corruption, decreasing negative politics, not being asstards, etc.
