Default 'Errings

I 'ad an 'erring the other day and it - wasn't very nice. Well, the taste wasn't that bad I suppose - sort of similar to mackarel - but it was all skin and bone. I grilled it with a bit of butter but the amount of meat I actually got off it wouldn't have filled a snail shell. I guess they're probably nice filleted in sauce but on their own I didn't care for them. Is there any way to make them better?

Moose, you need to try sweet cured herrings - they are the food of the gods.

I don't like rollmops at all because they aren't sweet cured.

Did I mention that sweet cured is the way to eat 'errings. Yum!

sweet cured? Do they still have skin and bones? I have never had a rollmop but they still seem to have skin and I really don't like fish skin!

Not the ones I've had. They are filleted and sweet cured with slices of onion. Mmmmmm.

Well that doesn't sound too bad :). I like mackarel and I would eat sardines if they didn't come with skin on ..

I like them pickled. :) They have only the occasional bone (be careful!) and not a lot of skin. I could devour a whole jar of them right from the fridge. :hungry:

Swedes love herring. You can find many varieties of herring dishes in Sweden. You probably can find them in Finland too, so your Finnish boyfriend (I dunno if you're still with him) can maybe tell you about ways to prepare herring.

In Hartford, Hereford, and Hampshire, hurricanes hardly happen. :onfire:
