Doesn't nail polish remover would work quite well to unglue superglued body parts? Acetone does. Just got to be careful around the eyes.

It would have to be better than ripping the sumbitch off my skin. Acetone doesn't really burn that much. I worked with it in the chemical plant lab all the time. We used it as a final rinse on the glassware.

I poured some on it, let it completely evaporate, just took a few minutes. No effect at all, just cooling. Definitely not any worse than rubbing alcohol. An hour would not have been any more or less unpleasant.

Having had CA (Cyanoacrylate) glue accidently stuck all over my hands constructing balsa wood R/C aircraft, I can tell you that not only does it stick, and stick real good, but it also tends to get very hot as well.

In addition, CA works anaerobically (without oxygen), thus, it doesn't really "kick in" to its max unless its put between two surfaces (where there wont be much air/oxygen). Then it really really sticks and really heats up. Thats why CA is annoying when its stuck to the outer sides of your fingers, but absoultely unbearable when its between your fingers and sticking them together (burns like hell!). I can't imagine how much pain that guy was in.

I have had mixed luck with acetone. In my experience its better than nothing, but isnt great at removal.

I think the percentage of acetone in fingernail polish remover is low compared to products that are specifically made to dissolve cyanoacrylate, such as EasyBond CA Debonder or the laboratory grade acetone.

I have noticed that the stuff gets very hot on model rockets. I do some rocketry, and... Wow.

It's funny, though, I have yet to finish a bottle without turning it into goo of one sort or another; I think the debonder turns it into a kind of jelly, so if I use that to clean out the nozzle, Bad Things Happen.
