Now comes the revolution.

Exulting in their electoral victories, President Bush's conservative supporters immediately turned to staking out mandates for an ambitious agenda of long-cherished goals, including privatizing Social Security, banning same-sex marriage, remaking the Supreme Court and overturning the court's decisions in support of abortion rights.

And just to smack ya around a bit more, I've also seen some talk that Ashcroft's resignation is a strategic move to clear the deck...for his appointment to the Supreme Court.

Won't happen. Even a demoralized Democratic party would do whatever they could to stop that.... and they DO still have enough people in the Senate for a fillabuster.

I would have said, once upon a time, that Enron and Abu Ghraib were more than sufficient to guarantee a second Bush presidency wouldn't happen.

The two aren't mutually exclusive... I can encourage the democrats to fillabuster and attack any legislation the Shrub pushes forward and still be hopeful both that they'll do it and that it'll work.
