RIP as well to
David Lindley, longtime guitarist and fiddle player for Jackson Browne and numerous others. It’s almost impossible to overstate how important Lindley was to Browne’s best music. “Before the Deluge” wouldn’t have half the impact it does without Lindley’s fiddle. (Another crucial component of its impact is the harmony vocals.)
His list of credits extends much further than that; he performed with Dolly Parton, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Toto, Joe Walsh, Rod Stewart, Leonard Cohen, Warren Zevon, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, David Crosby, and numerous others. His contributions to Browne’s music will probably serve as the cornerstone of his legacy, though. He was 78. He will be missed.
