Why moral relativism is nonsense

Relativism is all about "There is not a objective truth"

But now I prove you that moral relativism is self-contradictory:

Answer a question:

Is the phrase "there is not a objective truth?" really "true" ?

if the answer is "yes" well,you have just proved that there is a truth

if the answer is "no" well, you have just admitted that there is not an objective truth

"Embrance" is not the word you think it is.

"Is 'there not a objective truth?' (P statement) a boolean 'true' statement?" is not a grammatical sentence.

Neither is "But now I'll prove you that moral relativism is self-contradictory."

When I read this, I imagine you putting up a crude strawman in the middle of an empty field. You then back away 30 paces, limber up a bit, and charge, full of confidence.

But then in the last minute, something goes horribly wrong. You inexplicably wrong-foot it, and in stead of taking the strawman down, it sort of swivels awkwardly on impact and hits you in the back of the head. Thinking you are being ambushed, you jump awkwardly and trip, taking the strawman down with you in a mad flailing panic.

When the dust settles, you find that you have repeatedly punched yourself in the confusion, and apparently also in the face: now you have a bloody nose and a black eye. You dust yourself off, say "Take that leftists!" and try to stride off with what remains of your dignity. Two sheep watch your retreat impassively because it is marginally more interesting that staring at an empty field all day.

I was expecting too much from this forum...a serious answer maybe,because i'm ignorant of philosophy(and i don't care much,philosophy ,like most humanities ,is mostly a waste of time nobody became rich thanks to it.I prefer dedicate my time studying real thing like economics)

Just in case this is serious, you could start by noticing that relativism about morality does not require relativism about anything else. Your premise that moral relativism means "There is not a objective truth". Is thus false, making the rest of your argument fail.

That's not the only thing wrong with your argument, but there's no need to itemise all of them to refute it. I'll leave that as an exercise.

Oh yeah, and if you have a problem with trollish replies, you should avoid making trollish posts in the first place.

From the fact that there may be no absolutely true moral statements, it does not follow that there are no true statements at all.
