Default Walmart Flamed

Walmart can't stay out of the news:

Man throws Molotov cocktail into Melbourne, Florida Walmart.

I mean, geez, I don't like Walmart either, but I haven't even considered firebombing the joint. Why does this man hate low prices?

I think walmart should use it as their new advertising campaign.

"watch for falling prices and molotov cocktails"

"come to walmart and get crushed and burned"

"there is nothing like shopping illuminated by the gentle light of an out of control gasoline fire."

Around these parts, the first suspects would be the employees.

I have a good friend who did her doctoral dissertation on labour relations and Walmart. She interviewed hundreds of employees for research and of course the corporation got wind of it and began to actually send out spies to keep tabs on her. How Pinkerton is that shit?

Now when she speaks (and her diss must kick ass because she was getting invitations from all over the country before it was even finished) she asks that her name and speech topic not be printed on the program.

Walmart's actions sound vaguely Scientological.

They've been sued repeatedly, nationwide, for violations of child labor laws, rest and meal time laws, and for forcing unpaid overtime. Last year, they settled out of court for $7 million for forced overtime violations in my state alone.

This company preys upon the marginal. If you're barely making it and rillyrilly need a job, they'll happily abuse you, knowing that you most likely cannot afford the legal assistance to challenge their labor practices.

They've done a bang-up job of redefining the term "exploitation".

(pssssst....that's one way they keep prices low, by abusing their own employees)

I do online surveys for several firms and I always like it when they ask about shopping habits. Some have come right out and asked about shopping there, and I get to check the 'Never' block. I have in the past, but I avoid it now.

I'm surprised that you even have Walmarts in Oregon, considering the state's $7.25 an hour minimum wage law considering they've closed stores down where employees started a union.
