Default Milli Vanilli President?

Was Bush wearing a wire during the debate?

I got the title and pic from this Salon article, but the buzz is all over the web. Salon speculates that they've been wiring that golem passing as a president for a while now.

Quote:
Suggestions that Bush may have using this technique stem from a D-day event in France, when a CNN broadcast appeared to pick up -- and broadcast to surprised viewers -- the sound of another voice seemingly reading Bush his lines, after which Bush repeated them. Danny Schechter, who operates the news site MediaChannel.org, and who has been doing some investigating into the wired-Bush rumors himself, said the Bush campaign has been worried of late about others picking up their radio frequencies -- notably during the Republican Convention on the day of Bush's appearance. "They had a frequency specialist stop me and ask about the frequency of my camera," Schechter said. "The Democrats weren't doing that at their convention."
Not that it suprises me or anything - nor do I expect it to convince people who for some reason that escapes think he's not a vacant puppet - but the rumor might just cramp Bush's style even more at tonight's debate.

Well, not that I think Bush is a great speaker. But, I don't think that's a wire. It looks more like bunching due to poor posture and so-so tailoring.

Besides, if he had help with that debat and still that badly....it looks even worse for him.

This rumor has been around since 2000, and some people claim to have seen the earpiece. Anyone have a really good scanner that gets lots of different frequencies that they can hook up to a tape recorder? Ronin, I'm looking at you.

I dunno.

Has anyone ever seen Bush speaking while Dick Cheney was drinking a glass of water?

It's just the pull cord thingy that makes him talk.

He's Cheney's toy boy.

Okay, I just read the article. Geez, that's scary! Is that true? Have people actually been picking up messages sent to Bush during his speeches?

If so, why aren't the Democrats all over this? Remember when James Randi exposed that faith healer years ago by recording the radio messages being sent to him by his accomplices -- wouldn't it be just wonderful if somebody smuggled a radio receiver into the debate hall and proved on live television that Bush was having his responses fed to him? Oh, that would be sweet indeed!

The same two reasons as always:

Laziness.

Snivelling yellow-bellied cowardice.

Doing something like that for a speech isn't that much different from reading from notes or using a teleprompter. It's been a very long time since politicians wrote their own speeches, after all. But if this was going on during the debates, that's a very different story.

Yeah, it's called cheating. It would probably be a safe bet that George has cheated his way through life and this is just one example of it continuing. Alas, he is not alone, many Americans are much the same. Perhaps this is why George holds on to the support of some 45-46% of the electorate regardless of what he does.

Don't you know that W was slumping and uncomfortable looking because of all the body armor he was wearing? Do you think the Secret Service would allow the Prez to go stand up in front of people without some kind of protection?

--the above was related to me from a friend who heard it on CSPAN's Washington Journal. A caller whose husband works in security provided all us lame brains with the answer to both the bunching in W's jacket and his poor performance.
