They assured me they would, and have my home address and mobile number and email address.
They gave no indication of any kind of time commitment.

Re: What's up with you?
I have been reunited with my suitcase. Not to mention the contents thereof, and the padlock and strap affixed thereto.
The woman doing the delivery muttered darkly about a busy day.

Re: What's up with you?
Human meat in my salad... Things I can do, slice paper thin pieces of veggies in the air into my salad... things I cant do, slice paper thin pieces of veggies while angry and distracted watching super girl. At least the knife was so sharp it went right by bone and a vein without hurting them. Yes I feel completely stupid and have a chunk of missing skin but otherwise fine. I put away the sharp things. Only plastic for me right now.
Strangly the fact I did it to myself is a bit calming but part of that is the slight pain making me high. Perhaps staying in bed was a smarter option overall.
Btw Cold Steels "the spike" is both a quality knife and a bit scary.
Edit to add: part of the stupid feeling is I do repair, polish and finishing on swords as a hobby, so I really should have known better.

Re: What's up with you?
I regularly slice into a finger on my left hand. I do however usually decide not to leave the human tissue in the salad. Blood on the sliced red onions, though ... it's so hard to tell ...

Re: What's up with you?
I sliced the tip of my finger off while chopping shallots for risotto once. I actually continued chopping after putting on a bandaid. Then I realized that it wasn't stopping bleeding and I couldn't hold it above my heart and stir risotto at the same time. I cut myself so often that it takes me way too long to register when something is actually serious.

Re: What's up with you?
My grandmother is in hospice care at home now. We got to see her this past weekend in a whirlwind visit, but she knew me and the boys. It is hard to know when it is the last time you will ever see someone. The only time in my life I can ever remember her being irritated at me is when I shattered a glass bottle of coke on the floor of my grandparents' convenience store and she had to clean it up. Any other time, I am the center of the universe. I'm pretty sure every child and grandchild and great-grandchild of hers feels the same, without ever thinking that someone else is getting more than they are somehow.
One of my favorite stories about her is when she saw my cousin, a sheriff's deputy, directing traffic, bought him a snack, and drove him crazy trying to get it to him WHILE he was in the middle of directing traffic. He looked like he needed a Mr. Goodbar! He was working so hard out in that sun!
We had a lovely weekend visiting family, despite this sadness, and we are gearing up for the summer.

Re: What's up with you?
This morning I got my new hearing aids, expensive in-the-ear models. So far, so good. The real test will be when I go back to work Friday, and try to hear anything over the 30-some odd cooling fans in the room. I have them on a 30 day trial basis, but if they don't work for me, cochlear implants is next.

Re: What's up with you?
We got us a regular Monday night concert series coming up in a couple of weeks. Since December we've had tickets to see Elvis Costello on 4/11 in Denver. Then the other day I got Steve Hackett's Every Day stuck in my head. I fired up Google to search for a video and found out that Hackett is in Boulder on 4/4, doing a concert of half solo stuff and half vintage Genesis stuff.

We went to a live production of "The Rocky Horror Show" last Sunday, and, ever since then, I've been humming one or another of the songs whenever my mind otherwise goes idle.

Damn. I would ask you to bootleg it for me, but of course you are an Esteemed Esquire of the Lolorado Bar and wouldn't do such a thing.
Most likely, he either played here already or will soon. Which I would have found out about if I weren't completely comatose.
ETA: 31st at the Warfield in Ess Eff. Hmm. I'll hafta see if there are any decent tickets left (Warfield is usually reserved seating). Excellent venue; I would've expected him to get booked at one of the clubs.

If you remind me a few days after the show or so I'll have a peek at a certain tracker I'm a member of that may or may not deal in bootlegs.

For reals. I had no earthly idea that Hackett still tours the U.S. Finding that out was blind-ass dumbfuck luck, plain and simple.

Hey guys, pretty soon I have to go to some thing. I thought it was Buddy Hackett, but then I found out it was some kind of a hairband like Night Ranger or something.
I hope they play The Final Countdown.

I haven't heard the official diagnosis from my doctor, but I saw the laboratory analysis of my blood sample they took Thursday.

Re: What's up with you?
Make sure to keep on top of it! With modern science you can live quite well.
One of my grandmas had diabeetus for as long as I knew her and was always ontop of it, she died from old age and screaming at her deaf husband. You too could die from screaming at your deaf husband, as nature intended.

Ding,
From my own recent experience with my wife's diabetes I can tell you that it is not the end of the world. Although, for you, it may very well be the end of hot fudge sundaes.

Re: What's up with you?
. . . and, as someone diagnosed as pre-diabetic 8 years ago (with an A1c that, a year later, would have gotten me diagnosed as diabetic), I can confirm what Ari and Angakuk have said.
I can also point you to some resources that I have found particularly helpful, if you're interested.
