Also, I was buying some paracord a little while ago and these ladies at the store asked me what people used it for, and I started explaining, but then I looked around to make sure there were no men nearby to hear and told them that it's actually just TACTICAL SURVIVAL MACRAME for men who want to make and wear cute bracelets but need to tell themselves that some day, they'll need to unravel them to lasso a wild boar or fasten some guns to a monster truck or whatever.
A while back I started carrying a purse. I think I missed carrying a backpack which I got used to when I went back to UGA. Regardless, purses are super useful to carry.
It continually amazes me how people struggle to refer to it. Its a purse shaped object but they can't call it a purse as it might injure my male ego. I don't correct if they say bag, but I do correct man purse or murse. The word is purse already people, I don't need another word.

My purse, from Duluth Trading Company, was marketed as a satchel. Much more manly.

I was looking for a new purse a while back, and I saw one I liked on one site, but it was in a "Bags for Men" section, so: Murse. But I thought maybe I could email them or something and ask if they could make a version that was a "lurse," or a murse for ladies.

I just finished watching the first season of Outlander and I have a question regarding the rape scene in the final episode.
I clearly recall hearing and reading a lot of outrage regarding Sansa's rape by Ramsey in Game of Thrones. I don't recall a comparable level of outrage over Jamie's rape by Black Jack Randall in Outlander. Did I miss the outrage or did not generate the same sort of coverage as the Game of Thrones rape?

We should appoint a committee to investigate this! A confident, all-male committee, of course.
Good article, although I don't agree that the conclusion

three popular explanations for the clear under-representation of women in management, namely: (1) they are not capable; (2) they are not interested; (3) they are both interested and capable but unable to break the glass-ceiling: an invisible career barrier, based on prejudiced stereotypes, that prevents women from accessing the ranks of power
Surely the biased selection of leaders (by existing leaders and democratic voters and undemocratic company shareholders and rarely-democratic organisational teams), based on confidence (and "charisma" or ability to persuade) as false proxies for competence, is precisely what the glass ceiling is.

Also, this paragraph could belong to the Trump thread:
Quote:
This is consistent with the finding that leaderless groups have a natural tendency to elect self-centered, overconfident and narcissistic individuals as leaders, and that these personality characteristics are not equally common in men and women. In line, Freud argued that the psychological process of leadership occurs because a group of people — the followers — have replaced their own narcissistic tendencies with those of the leader, such that their love for the leader is a disguised form of self-love, or a substitute for their inability to love themselves. “Another person’s narcissism”, he said, “has a great attraction for those who have renounced part of their own… as if we envied them for maintaining a blissful state of mind.”
Re: Official FF Generic Catch-All Thrad for Reverse Racism, Misandry, etc.
I don't think it's just a matter of women being less narcissistic or confident, but also that those qualities are more likely to be viewed as negative when they come from a woman.
Re: Official FF Generic Catch-All Thrad for Reverse Racism, Misandry, etc.
But the double standard reinforces behaviors, so women eventually learn to stop being so confident, and men learn that just sounding confident and authoritative is equivalent to actually understanding what you're talking about.

Nonono you see, confidence and authoritarianism is natural in males, because males are just naturally more competitive and strong, in order to protect their womenfolk. From, well, other males. So that is really kind of nice of them and also natural.
If you want evidence of this, just look at the fact that more men are confident and authoritative! Also some vague idea that probably more animals have aggressive males or something. Mumble mumble nature genes and pregnant women.
If you try to challenge that, you are being super mean to women.
Re: Official FF Generic Catch-All Thrad for Reverse Racism, Misandry, etc.
The problem, you see, is that women are just not very good at being men.
On the other hand, that may not actually be a problem.

How dare Holly suggest that not being able to distinguish between Shaq and Sinbad might have a tinge of racism in it! We're talking about alternate universes, not casual racism.
Re: Official FF Generic Catch-All Thrad for Reverse Racism, Misandry, etc.
Italian men never stopped wearing purses. My dad picked up the habit decades ago (he used to smoke a pipe, so he always had more gear than a wallet to carry) and still rocks it to this day even in staid ol' Connecticut. Friends and family made snide comments which he ignored because like a honey badger, he didn't give a shit. By the time I was a teenager, two of his brothers and my maternal uncle all had Italian manbags.
It would be called a clutch or a wristlet if it were for women. I don't know what they'd call that style for men in the US. Something rugged like a gripper pouch or a wristpack.
Re: Official FF Generic Catch-All Thrad for Reverse Racism, Misandry, etc.
One of the things that I carry in my "satchel" is my pipe case. Two of the things that I do not carry in it are my billfold and my keys. I don't consider myself sufficiently habituated to carrying a purse to consign to it anything that is truly essential to my economic and emotional well-being.
