Re: Thanksgiving menus
Microwave popcorn and Monster Zero energy drink, accompanied by Season 2 of Harvey Birdman.
It's ex-Mrs. KA's turn this year to have The Kid for Thanksgiving.
We'll be having the BIG chicken tomorrow though

Re: Thanksgiving menus
We ended up having Thanksgiving dinner tonight, there wasn't enough time to brine the bird and eat it last night.

Re: Thanksgiving menus
I made all the vegetable dishes I wanted. Had turkey cutlets and cheddar spiked biscuits

Re: Thanksgiving menus
We had turkey, bread and sausage dressing. mashed potatoes, brussels spouts, gravy*, and cranberry relish. And I am now officially tired of all those things so it's time to start with the leftover re-makings.
* I am terrible at pan gravies, so it's all lumpy and separated. I am pretty danged good at it when you start out with a basic roux and go from there, but when I start out with pan drippings, I screw it up in various exciting ways every single time. My mom always hated cooking and thought it was a horrible chore, but she could make a perfect pan gravy every time. She just never taught me because she never imagined her daughter would be burdened with cooking, and I never learned on my own because the occasion just doesn't arrive often.
Guess I ought to look that up or something.

Then:
Add one small can of pineapple tidbits (drained)
one cup or so of halved red grapes
one or two red apples, chopped. If skin is nice I do not peel.
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, or more, to taste.
Fold in one or two large dollops of fresh whipped cream and chill.
It makes a very refreshing drink for the cook if you reserve the cranberry juice and pineapple juice and then add a little seltzer water.
That's it. I sometimes use pistachios because I love them and the color contrast is nice, but I have walnuts so I'll probably use them this year.

Bumping this ancient thread because I love this recipe and look it up every year instead of writing Janet's Sister-In-Law's Cranberry Salad down on a recipe card.

Wildy!!!
Rigorist and I are having dinner on our own, and sticking to the traditional fare - turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, squash, and cranberry sauce.
