Re: BREAKING: Sometimes Famous People Die
Eugene Peltola wasn't famous, but he was married to the Democrat who did the entire U.S. a favor by not only winning Alaska's sole U.S. House of Representatives seat (which had been in GOP hands for decades) but also kept Sarah "Wasilla Gorilla" Palin out of that seat.

I thought we had another thread for people we haven't heard of, but this is truly a shame. My heart goes out to Mary Peltola and their family.

Re: BREAKING: Sometimes Famous People Die
Yep, I definitely should have put that in Mick's "sometimes people you never heard of" thread. The articles I've read today suggest that Gene Peltola was a genuinely good dude. Among other things, he was Alaska's regional director of the BIA until he retired in 2022.

RIP actor David McCallum, who inter alia played Illya Kuryakin on The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and, many years later, Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard on N.C.I.S.

I didn't know him as a Man from UNCLE but NCIS would be nothing without his Dr Mallard.

Nobody seems to remember him in the short-lived The Invisible Man (1975 TV series) - Wikipedia.

I did like his Ilia Kuryakin, though,..., much better than Vaughn's character.

Feinstein is a "surprised but not shocked" kind of death. Her health was clearly failing, but it didn't mean she couldn't hang on until the end of her term.
