Simpson brought the entire Buffalo Bills offensive line with him to press conferences during the season he broke 2,000 yards. I followed that as a teenager and thought, "That's a good dude, giving credit where credit's due." Years later I loled uncontrollably when he hosted SNL. ("Mandingo 2" is an all-time top 10 SNL sketch.)
