Depends on what "you" believe a conservative is.

Re: Just curious -
A conservative in what way?
I'm conservative by many standards, a bit liberal in others.

Re: Just curious -
I believe I am more conservative than you are alpha. I am more towards the middle and left than you are. You are too extreme right to be considered conservative, IMO. Shouldn't this be in a politics fighting forum?

Split right down the middle. It really depends on the issue.

Re: Just curious -
I'm liberal when it comes to civil rights and certain social issues but I'm conservative about the government and fiscal matters. So you could call me a left leaning moderate.

I'm for conserving the environment and uh conserving my money, and uh... conserving our freedoms. So I guess I'm a conservative!
I dunno I guess there are a FEW issues where I would be conservative and not "liberal".

Re: Just curious -
i think im conservative. i tend to get lumped with liberals cuz im arty, but i believe in less govt. i believe that people need to rely less on handouts. i dont think that can happen with the way things are set up right now, but it could start. i guess im a libertarian...with an anarchist heart

Re: Just curious -
You'd probably call me a liberal, because I'm opposed to the war in Iraq. I'm also vehemently anti-Bush. But then again, I've been called a right wing fascist because of my stance on other issues, such as gun control.
Personally, I don't like to apply either label to myself. I agree with conservatives on some issues, and liberals on others, and disagree with both on still others. You see, I try to live in the real world, where things aren't quite so black and white.

Exactly and why I told him I was more conservative than him. There is a point where you get to be to extreme to be considered a conservative. Although I lean to the liberal side, I believe I am close to middle ground. I do vote for Republican or Democrat if a candidate is good. Although the last two rounds I haven't as the Repbublican party has become a nightmare.
Like John Carter stated: "... I try to live in the real world, where things aren't quite so black and white."

Re: Just curious -
Yeah, if you get too extreme then you're not conserving the status quo, but trying to introduce new things (or in most cases with extreme-right people, trying to regress).
So instead of calling such people conservatives, maybe they should be called regressives.

Binary "thinking" isn't really very... thoughtful.
I would so love to see a bipartisan ticket next election. Or, you know, if we could actually have a viable third party. More realistically, I'm hoping that CA can secede...

No, I meant is there anyone who doesn't get their news from See B.S., their worldview from Michael Moore, their history from Oliver Stone, and their aesthetic sensibility from rapcrap.

Seriously, alpha. You've received several substantive replies here. Couldn't you at least make an attempt to define conservative for them?

In your case, I'd say paste a mask on your face so you don't frighten the dogs and children.

To be a conservative means middle and left? You're brain damaged. You're too naive too know that "extreme" is an utterly meaningless slur term in the political sense, it's tossed out by people who are losing arguments or afraid to engage in them.

A definition. Any decent debate starts by defining terms. Do so.
