I finally got to see the movie "A Christmas Story" a couple of days ago. I'd heard Americans going on about it, so I ordered the DVD. It's never been released in Europe (as far as I know) and never been on TV here. The DVD didn't arrive in time for Christmas though.
The DVD was region 1 NTSC. It was the first time I'd tried one of these on the DVD player/recorder under my telly. I had to enter the ridiculously complicated code: 0000000 to make my DVD unit region free forever. Why the fuck do they even bother with this region crap?

And my telly just played the NTSC like it was born to it (though we normally use PAL here).
And the movie was okay I guess. I suppose the reason it's not shown here in Europe is that it's really for usa-ians to get all sentimental over the way their Christmases used to be. I shall watch it again though, next Christmas.
Here endeth my bid for the longest post in the 'countdown from one million' thread.
