Default BBC Launches a 24 Hr News Service in U.S.

At last, we'll have a source that actually reports what's going on in the world.

I love the BBC, and listen to it whenever I can. Ironically, I find that I can often learn more about U.S. politics from the BBC than from U.S. news outlets -- even NPR.

Sad, isn't it?

What I'd really love is to hear some of those aggressive, take-no-BS BBC reporters interviewing a few U.S. politicians. Not that Bush or Cheney or any of that lot would ever agree to such an interview, but I can dream.

Wasn't there a news clip circulating about 2 years ago from Bush's visit to the U.K. in which he made the mistake of giving an Irish reporter an interview? As I recall, you could see and hear him growing quite upset when she refused to simply accept his stock answers -- and then she flat-out told him he was wrong when he claimed to be quite popular in Europe, which he very clearly did not enjoy hearing. (This was soon after a large percentage of Britons rated Bush as the single greatest threat to world peace.) If only we had such reporters/interviewers here in the U.S.!

Cheers,

Michael

More importantly, it will be done in a cool accent.

This looks cool, I hope it gets wider distribution than NY soon.

I hope this makes it to cable on the other coast. It'd be nice to see a news show on TV that didn't make me retch.
