Well, that's why I'm waiting for MonCap to defend himself before voting. By getting some votes in, people will then have to come back to the thread and defend themselves. There's no way of really knowing anything this early in the game.

Re: Mafia - Game III
In regards to MonCap's previous posts, I thought they were just typically MonCap posts. But at this stage of game, we can't assume anything. I'll wait for Mon to defend himself before I toss in my vote. Ugh, I don't like this initial stage of game where voting is essentially random.
Beyelzu, *snort*, so you're voting for me? More than anything else, I trust you the least of all the players here. I haven't forgotten how easily you fooled me before, you and your soft-heart bad boy facade. So you'll forgive me if I'm a little paranoid about whether you're a baddie or not.

There's very little that we common townies can do at this point, other than make unfair accusations and note how the accusees defend themselves. We'll have much more to go on as the game progresses, and we'll be able to make more intelligent guesses (potentially, anyway). I've never seen a game that got a mafia on the first lynch.

Re: Mafia - Game III
Random lynching seems to be the only way to start this game.
But I'll be the first to admit that my "evidence" against MonCap is pretty thin, but it's all I have right now.
This early there isn't any good evidence anyway. So I migh as well stick with my vote and see how it goes. The stats say, we'll likely lynch a townie, but what else can we do?
I'm off to bed now, see y'all tomorrow!

Re: Mafia - Game III
I'd like to know why bey suspects capp.
And I'd like to know why trillian voted for Nightson. What do you mean it might not be just because he voted for you last game? What sinister reason could he have to target you? Supposing he is mafia, why would that imply he is singling you out?
P.S. My alarm bells blared after reading MonCap's first post or two. Can't tell if he's just being n00bish or what. I'd like to think he's got a better poker face than that.

We can assume that all the mafia types know who the others are at this point? Or, do they need wait until after the first day (during the first night, when they get to communicate to select their victim)?

Re: Mafia - Game III
I don't know personally, but I would think they are told who their people are in the initial role PM. Otherwise they might lynch a fellow mafia on the first day.

I'm off to bed in a minute, so obviously won't be posting.
Just wanted to let you all know in case I get "done in" for being too quiet.

I don't trust those sleeping types. All the shifty rapid-eye movements, and they're just too quiet.

Well, it seems that he wanted votes to bring on discussion- and not necessarily to lynch (ie trying to draw out the quieter players so that the town has more information). He voted afterI had already posted, and when most other players had not. So yeah, I think his vote looks a bit suspect for me, even based on his own advice.

The 2x I have been in the "family way", I knew from the very first PM who the other mafia was.

on day one of the werewolf game at ii that crumb and i won we lynched a vamp, the crotch for being kind of inactive and not so trustworthy, pretty random really. and as the loon i killed jfryejr, a werewolf, on spensers suggestion cuz jfrye previously had previously muddied the waters, and i think he was kind of quiet on that first day.
but even though we got two, it wasnt because of any real tells or anything.

With nine to lynch, one doesn't really need to worry about placing a vote on someone until the sixth vote. You'll have plenty of time to unvote if something hapens like another player being more scummy or if you think MonCapitans response indicate he sn't scum.

Sigh, maybe it's because I'm changing my style of play? I'm learning from my mistakes which got me killed in the first place and one thing I've learned is how easily I can become paranoid or confused just by the little things which then leads to even more confusion among us. So I'm seeking to avoid that by looking at the big picture, keeping a clear head, peel off all the distracting fluff thrown out by the players, and outwitting the mafia. If that means me "not being myself" then well, what do you expect? I'm not a broken record that can't adapt based on what I've learned.
godfry, what are your thoughts about the P and the two men? At first I assumed they were the mafia but now I'm taking a second look at my assumptions. I'm eager to see what vm has in store for us!

Frankly, I don't have any. It's all rumor, as far as I'm concerned. I've seen no evidence to back up the rumor, and I'm not a big fan of "tells", as they seem to be the product of active imaginations.
I'm watching carefully and have a couple of suspicions, but nothing worth airing now.
