Default Mindboggling Sociopathology

This is not a thread that can possibly go very far but I just have to post it.

I was just listening to the BBC radio4 news on my computer when a news item raised my blood pressure far beyond the danger point. Perhaps posting this news item here is a therapeutic attempt by me to lower said blood pressure.

As we are all aware the horrors in South East Asia continues to unfold. Countless people are missing, including loved ones from nations were each of us resides. Many, many desperate frightened people are trying to seek out information as to the status of their loved one's and/or colleagues.

Messages in the form of emails etc are flying around the world even as I type this. Some very twisted sick creeps are replying to those seeking information with official looking messages that the person/persons they seek have been confirmed dead.

There is little I can say other than to ask, just how low can some inappropriately named humans sink?

The question is rhetorical of course.

Would ya believe I have BBC radio4 streaming all day until their programing day is over and then I switch to radio7, except when in my mind listening to the latest news is crucial (in my mind) then I listen to BBC world Service.

You'll probably hate me for this, but the behavior of sociopaths is actually called sociopathy, not sociopathology. I made the same mistake myself for a long time.

In any case you're right, some people are very sick and twisted.

I'm just being a language pedant. As far as I can tell from searching around the 'net there is no such thing as 'sociopathology', only 'sociopathy', and your thread title is "Mindboggling Sociopathology". :)

Thumbdown Re: Mindboggling Sociopathology

That's horrible. :(

I was also disgusted by the Cricket official whatsamacallit organisation. The Sri Lankan team were due to play when the disaster struck, and the Cricket officials werd going to fine the team $3m because they were not going to honor their contractual cricket playing obligations. They were stuck here for days as the death toll climbed in their home country. It took about 3 days for the cricket officials to waiver the fine and let them go home. Fucking arseholes.

Luna, If there was a hell I would like to think that there is a special place in it for thick bureaucratic shitforbrains that try to enforce rules during such circumstances. We Canadians had our ow special brand of like-minded shitheads during this horrendous episode. Several Canadians vacationing in that part of the world lost everything they owned and yet consular officials insisted that they had to pay a replacement fee for lost visas. It did not occur to these simple fools that if they had money they probably would still have their visas. Even the Americans whose government is obsessed with security flew out their citizens without the required papers. Our government officials back here used the feeble excuse that it was the holiday season and senior officials were not available to make necessary changes. Those out there in the field were just following orders. Where have I heard that before?

Man I'm going to get kicked in the ass but I need to argue all points.

Is there not some tiny almost miniscule speck of a possibility that someone doing this might turn out to be a good thing if the letter is false?

TYLER
I'm keeping your license. I know where you live. I'm going to check
on you. If you aren't back in school on your way to being a
veterinarian, you will be dead. Now, get the hell out of here.

Raymond staggers into the darkness. Tyler watches. Jack, still
clinging to a branch with a deathgrip, looks at Tyler. Tyler slowly
turns to face Jack.

TYLER
Raymond K. Hessel, tomorrow will be the most beautiful day of your
life. Your breakfast is going to taste better than any meal you've
ever eaten.

I do agree with overall sentiments of thread though. Don't kill me. :hide:

Heh. I was thinking the same thing... But I think the possibility of an unintended good outcome does not make a behavior justifiable.

Yeah, any act could have improbable/unexpected/unintended positive consequences. Unless the probable/expected/intended consequence is good it just ain't right.
