That's the best you've got? It's good enough to explain why I no longer expect your criticism to be coherent, Brim baby!

Looks more like a pretext for avoiding substance.

I don't think Mr BS's "Do you have Asberger's?" can seriously be considered as substance, Bop. It looks far more like a bad-tempered interruption of the discussion you and I were having. We seemed to be making some progress before it was derailed by an avalanche of bullshit;

"Thanks viscousmemories" is so at odds with the tone of "may I suggest you shove it right tight up your GW", that I can understand viscousmemories concluding that your "thanks" was insincere.

I don't think it is at odds at all. Remember that I think genuine dialogue is a good thing and I am always grateful when other people contribute to a good thing that I am part of. Remember also that "shove it right tight up your GW" was not my response to anything vm had said in his post, but was a threat not to be thankful in the event that he refused to withdraw his ad hominem.

I can express thanks for one response while threatening not to be thankful for a lack of another response without telling lies, which is the accusation vm levelled at me and which you are now trying to defend. Agreed?

Mick

What you subjectively mean, and what a reasonable person can fairly conclude about what you mean from the words you use, can be two different things.

My criticism was coherent and my question was quite apt, Mick. Your evasion and your defense of the post in question is pathetic.

Enjoy your games.

Perhaps people would believe this if you weren't a jackass with no credibility.

If you think it is the same issue then you won't mind tackling it in the form I put it to you, Bop.

I did not say it was the same issue, mickthinks; I said that my statement, and not yours, better reflected the issue.

And frankly, I'm tired of this whole thing. Carrying on these conversations with you is like talking to a child whose every response to an explanation is "Why." My uncle fell down a flight of stairs two days ago, mickthinks, and landed on his head. They took him of of life support yesterday, and he is dying. I'm going to deal with that, instead.

You didn't actually say that, Bop, although I accept that may be what you meant to say.

I'm tired of this whole thing.
Yes, I find that people do eventually get tired of defending an indefensible position. I am sorry to hear about your uncle. In my case it's my dad who died just before Christmas.

Get back to me when you're feeling up to it, Bop

Mick

You don't think that viscousmemories could reasonably have concluded that your thanks were insincere? I think his conclusion is an entirely defensible position. What I am tired of is trying to engage in rational discussion with someone who brings more sheer disingenuousness to a discussion than I think anyone should asked to deal with.

I can express thanks for one response while threatening not to be thankful for a lack of another response without telling lies. vm's accusation is, in effect, a pronouncement that that is impossible. That isn't just unreasonable, it is sheer arrogance.

No.
Is this just your emotional reluctance to give me credit where it's due, or can you offer a reasoned argument for disagreeing?

Go on, mick, quote the post where I linked you to goatse again. You know you want to!

No, it's because I disagree with what you have asked me to agree to. I have already explained my views to you; I offer no further explanation because I have fully expect, based on prior exchanges, that you will merely pretend not to understand, or will pretend that I have not explained myself. :sadcheer:

You have stated your views that vm was justified in calling me a liarm, but you haven't explained them. Your powers of explanation ran out at this point:

mick: viscousmemories accused me of lying by saying "Thanks" when I didn't mean it. Are you saying you can reconstruct the reasoning that justifies that accusation? Please show me!
Bop: "Thanks viscousmemories" is so at odds with the tone of "may I suggest you shove it right tight up your GW", that I can understand viscousmemories concluding that your "thanks" was insincere.

They're not at odds at all. Genuine dialogue is a good thing. "shove it right tight up your GW" was not my response to anything vm had said in his post, but was a threat not to be thankful in the event that he refused to withdraw his ad hominem.

I can express gratitude for cooperation while warning of ingratitude for non-cooperation without telling lies

I offer no further explanation because I have fully expect, based on prior exchanges, that you will merely pretend not to understand, or will pretend that I have not explained myself.
You haven't explained why you think vm had enough evidence to say my thanks was a lie, and you won't explain, because you haven't got an explanation. If you had one, we'd have seen it. This is just evasion.

What you subjectively mean, and what a reasonable person can fairly conclude about what you mean from the words you use, can be two different things.
"Evasive," mickthinks? Hardly. You have refused to acknowledge the relevance of my earlier response, and I have begun to doubt your ability to appreciate its relevance.
