So...I just caught a snippet of news out of Turkey about women wearing head-scarves in schools. Evidently, there is a push to allow it, as a woman wearing a headscarf is presently
against the law.
Watser? can correct me, but I understand this to be a remnant of the Ataturk Revolution, which was sternly secular and strongly discouraged overt religious display in public. I find it interesting that here the case seems to be unleashing unwilling observance of the law to allow the religious to follow their practices in the public realm.
Should the ban on women's head-scarves in universities be lifted?
