xishi, I should clarify that I'm not just addressing you here. I don't know if you're judgemental about others, and if so, how much.

Hell, I know I do it sometimes. I get mad when I see someone shop at WalMart or drive to work alone in a Hummer or something. I have to remind myself sometimes, too, that you cannot judge someone quickly, based on just a little information about them like that. I think what set me off more, in fact, was maybe the OP, characterizing certain types of vanity as more egregious than others. What immediately came to mind for me is our own horribly vain LadyShea, who has big purchased hooters and wears makeup and furs and sashays around the place inciting lust into the hearts of men alla damned time. And who subjected herself to major surgery in order to give one of her very limited supply of life-sustaining organs to an acquaintance, thus saving his life. I mean, I still hate what guts she has left for being all hot and having the big hooters and all, but I can't pretend I have any moral grounds for that. The closest I get to giving away parts of my body is when I clip my toenails in the living room and leave them lying around in the carpet to get stuck in my boyfriend's socks. (I do what I can.)

I think what you're doing is good. It's an ethical decision, and one I think is worthwhile. I also think Dr. Temple Grandin has made an ethical decision, and that her contribution is worthwhile. She's the autistic professor down the road there (I'm pointing north from my house) at CSU, who designs calming slaughterhouses and other facilities to minimize the stress and trauma to livestock in factory farms. She works inside the industry itself, but she does it in a way that profoundly mitigates the cruelty involved.

The world needs both of you. The world needs that big nasty tart LadyShea with her bling and her generalized trollopery. Just because I am so gonna kick her ass doesn't mean I am justified in doing so.

(I am ass-u-me-ing that LadyShea knows I'm only picking on her because I love her.)

She said something about wearing vintage furs in the thread, and she's mentioned the hooters before here.

Plus, I'm posting from a van parked outside her house.

I'm sorry you feel that way, xishi. I also respect your desire to minimize the negative impact your existence has on other lifeforms, and though I might not agree with all of your opinions I definitely appreciate your input.

thank you again...as for being judgemental...made me wonder exactly what is being judgemental and how we know when we are being so...ex if i see a mother abuse her child i would judge that to be wrong...so i would be judgemental...but at other times i or anyone could be judgemental without realizing it...am i making any sense here...

You got that right, girl.

It ain't no cakewalk, or if it is, I'm covered with frosting.

Oh, nice talk from somebody whose banana is all sexually harassing me with erotical thrusting maneuvers!

I feel so cheap.

And inexplicably aroused.

inexplicably, my ass!

Maybe if you could drag your gaze away from LadyShea's hooters for more than five seconds, this would not be an issue.

Oh, way to confound the issue with untestable hypotheticals.

You're all just trying to mesmerize me with your bling, whether it be silicon, carbon, or pixel based. It's all bling, and it's all designed to distract me and dissuade me from...something. And I'm not going...

You're pretty.

i would not do it myself...but seems less so as it has little influence on current state of affairs...i love vintage myself...i have a fake fur coat from the sixties that looks like a 30's movie star coat..living in south florida i get to wear it maybe twice a year...i prefer velvet...also please note that said it was awful to me...that is an opinion not a moral outrage...i also may not like peanut butter but it is only my opinion...have no problem with those who love peanut butter

Oh I love me some vintage. Clothes, jewelry, furniture you name it :) Check out the thread titled "What's In It" and look at the cool pink metal cabinets and matching pink appliances I noticed.
My furs will not get much use after my move though, I am afraid. Maybe I'll turn em into a fabulous wrap and have a holiday party.

And hey lisarea, not nice to talk about hot, sashaying me when I am not supposed to be here ;)

Absolutely not. I'm entirely too familiar with people. It's a side effect of my natural bitchiness. :yup:
