Default yguy and the McCain economic braintrust

So far in his previous trollfest, yguy has failed to answer this point that I made. It's a good one (which is why he is ducking it) - so it shouldn't be allowed to be overlooked:

* * * * *

It's interesting that ytroll would try to use involvement with Fannie Mae as an anti-Obama attack issue here. The McCain campaign has received literally 10 times the amount of donations in campaign money from the mortgage giants that the Obama campaign has received (McNeil-Lehrer News Hour, Sept 19th, 2008).

In addition, McCain's campaign manager Rick Davis, was a lobbyist for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. From Politico:

Quote:
To The Editor:

Yesterday, Senator John McCain released a television commercial attacking Barack Obama for allegedly receiving advice on the economy from former Fannie Mae CEO Franklin Raines. From the stump, he has recently tried tying Senator Obama to Fannie Mae, as if there is some guilt in the association with Fannie Mae's former executives.

It is an interesting card for Senator McCain to play, given that his campaign manager, Rick Davis, was paid by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac several hundred thousand dollars early in this decade to head up an organization to lobby in their behalf called The Homeownership Alliance. ...

I worked in government relations for Fannie Mae for more than 20 years, leading the group for most of those years. When I see photographs of Sen. McCain's staff, it looks to me like the team of lobbyists who used to report to me. Senator McCain's attack on Senator Obama is a cheap shot, and hypocritical.

Sincerely,

William Maloni
Fannie Mae Senior Vice President for Government and Industry Relations (1983-2004)
So I guess the question is:

when will our resident ycoward grow a pair of yballs and address this head-on? ::roflmao:

It probably has you on ignore.

In the meantime, you can laugh at McCain's poor little campaign manager.

While I'm naturally tickled to death to see my name in a thread title, that's not nearly enough to hold my interest by itself.

Maybe somebody could say something halfway intelligent?

Shouldn't that be the "McCain economic brain aneurysm"?

I certainly don't trust it.

A question is ducked under cover of a crass insult to the questioner. I've seen that somewhere before ...

... but why would it be given a free pass here at :ff:? Do they put something in the water here that takes away the taste of bullshit?

Let me advise strongly against this. While putting mickthinks on ignore can reduce the bullshit taste in your :ff: experience, this step should be taken only under the supervision of a qualified internetician. Users who choose to ignore mickthinks risk a lulz-deficient diet. Anyone who chooses to ignore mickthinks without professional supervision should seek an alternative source of lulz or take a course of lulz-enriched supplements.

Back on track now. Wonder what ytroll has to say about this juicy morsel? (Hat tip to talkingpointsmemo.com)

Seems that McSame's campaign manager is upset that the NYT had the nerve to point out his relationship with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Quote:
McCain Aide’s Firm Was Paid by Freddie Mac

By JACKIE CALMES and DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK
Published: September 23, 2008

WASHINGTON — One of the giant mortgage companies at the heart of the credit crisis paid $15,000 a month from the end of 2005 through last month to a firm owned by Senator John McCain’s campaign manager, according to two people with direct knowledge of the arrangement.

The disclosure undercuts a statement by Mr. McCain on Sunday night that the campaign manager, Rick Davis, had had no involvement with the company for the last several years.

Mr. Davis’s firm received the payments from the company, Freddie Mac, until it was taken over by the government this month along with Fannie Mae, the other big mortgage lender whose deteriorating finances helped precipitate the cascading problems on Wall Street, the people said.
So guess what? Like any Republican, he tries to go undercover and skips out on his luncheon with reporters:

Quote:
John McCain campaign manager Rick Davis skips lunch with reporters

WASHINGTON--John McCain campaign manager Rick Davis--under the spotlight because of his work for mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--is skipping a Wednesday lunch with reporters sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor.

On Tuesday, word came that McCain political director Mike DuHaime will substitute for Davis because he is "heading out on the trail" today.

Davis is the subject of stories in the New York Times and Newsweek about his work for the failed mortgage market makers. At issue right now: did Davis contradict McCain's statement that he has not been involved with Fannie and Freddie for some time.

Wait...wait...

His company, from which he personally gains in the form of income, has been on the take from financial agencies while he has been the McCain campaign manager.

Isn't that a conflict of interest?

And wouldn't a conflict of interest be...oh, I dunno...immoral, maybe?

But then, that's nothing new with Johnny ever since he threw his principles to the wind to follow in the footsteps of his hero, George W. Bush?

Now you know why I continue to refer to them as Repugnantcans.

The campaign is another faith-based initiative!

Suddenly it makes a bit more sense.

Next: Say it enough times and enough idiots will believe you. (All part of the faith-based initiative campaign.)

Wait, wait, wait....

Suspend the campaign, he has to go to Washington to help broker the crisis?

That sounds lame. Why can't he help broker the crisis in the public eye, on the campaign trail. It makes it sound like he's got to get behind closed doors to reprise his supporting role, like in the Keating Five. More likely, his entire campaign staff has rushed back to Capitol Hill to apply copious quantities of influence. In this crisis, of course.

The other possibility is hinted at by what I've seen of his recent photos. What's the deal with his left eye? Is there a health issue immediately present? Perhaps he's rushing back to DC to consult his doctor?
