Judges
Why should we tolerate judges the public thinks unfair? People are afraid to "critique" judges for fear of judicial retaliation. Yet these men and women are "elected" for our benefit. Why do people not know about THEIR judges? Do those of you who live in Oklahoma County realize that the judge voted the WORST judge in Oklahoma is one of your own? Yes, Judge Allen J. Welch, Jr, Oklahoma County Family Judge, has been voted THE WORST JUDGE in Oklahoma. 393 people have voted him the WORST judge! Yet he continues to make decisions regarding our children and families. It seems, from reading the comments, that this man has never earned a living. He has spent his whole career living off our taxes ... as part of Human Services, then as a student of Dan Murdock (who was recently convicted or plead quilty or something to SEXUAL ASSAULT of a woman) who was General Counsel at the Bar (another state employee position) and now as a Judge. He has never earned a living and cannot know how those of us who actually earn a living feel and how difficult it is for us with children. The voting makes him among the 20 WORST judges in the ENTIRE UNITED STATES! WOW! Yet nothing is done about this guy? Do we not have enough bad judge jokes being told about us already ... everyone thinks of the Masturbating Judge Thompson when they think of Oklahoma. Now when they look at a National Ranking one of our own shows up among the 20 WORST judges in the United States. WHY DO WE KEEP HIM? WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO GIVE HIM A PUBLIC MANDATE TO MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT OUR MOST IMPORTANT RESOURCE ... OUR CHILDREN??? Why? I don't know - you tell me! If what is written about this man is true shouldn't someone look into it? Who is going to look? The Bar ... you know, the place where he worked for 10+ years? Oh, perhaps the Presiding Judge, Vickie Robertson. OH WAIT! She is voted the second WORST JUDGE in Oklahoma!!!! Yeah, that is his boss!! WOW! We're batting 1000 here eh? EVERYONE should be aware of judges. Look at Rate Judges, Rate Courts, Court Directory - Courthouse Forum - Judge Directory, Worst Judges, State Courts, Federal Courts, Judiciary, Judicial Misconduct, Judicial Complaints, Judicial Accountability, Judicial Performance Evaluation Surveys, Family Court, Divorce Court, Traffic Court, Trial, Appeals, Appellate, Criminal, Civil, Probate, Law, Legal Resources, Legal Information, Legal Questions and leave your own thoughts/comments or just be educated by what others post.

Re: Judges
393 people out of what, 3 million or so? Big whoop.
Do what I used to do every election, vote 'No' on judicial retention. That's about the extent of an individual citizen's power in this regard.

Sorry if the "caps" offended you. They were intended to emphasise my amazement. How does this happen? Thank you for addressing the "form" of my post, but how about addressing the "substance" of the post? Do you care about the character and reliability of those making decisions about our families?

Does it matter out of how many? He has 200+ more votes than his boss, Presiding Judge Vickie Robertson, and she has close to 200 more than most other Oklahoma County Judges. That should tell us all something about both of them! The point is that, yes, in years gone by the only power an individual citizen had was to vote no for "Appellate" judges (since they are on a retention ballot) and vote against an incumbent or against a challenger for District Judge (General election every four years), but there is no vote for a Special Judge. Judges like Judge Allen J. Welch, Jr., are "appointed" by the District Judges. The special Judges never "answer" to the people. The only way to get attention on them is to bring media view on their actions, that in turn brings some heat on those who appointed them for political reasons. Thus, while Judge Allen J. Welch, Jr. has been voted the worst judge in Oklahoma, he never has to answer to the people for his woefully underrated performance. Is that fair? I say not, which is why we should all do something about it. We should see that his rating gets some media attention!

Re: Judges
This comment was made about Judge Allen J. Welch, Jr. on a yahoo chat page. There is also the information on Rate Judges, Rate Courts, Court Directory - Courthouse Forum - Judge Directory, Worst Judges, State Courts, Federal Courts, Judiciary, Judicial Misconduct, Judicial Complaints, Judicial Accountability, Judicial Performance Evaluation Surveys, Family Court, Divorce Court, Traffic Court, Trial, Appeals, Appellate, Criminal, Civil, Probate, Law, Legal Resources, Legal Information, Legal Questions Can all this be coincidence? Should the media look into his performance/conduct? If they do not, then there is no mechanism to hold him accountable - since he was appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the District Judges. This judge was a previous student of Oklahoma Bar General Counsel, Dan Murdock, who recently plead guilty or something like it to sexual assault of something like that. When looking at statements like the ones below and the ones on the courthouse forum, does it surprise you that he was Murdock's student?

I have testimony from a district judge that another judge makes his rulings purely based on a gender bias - against women. He is gravely hurting women and children. Many of us feel like we do not live in American any more. His name is Allen J. Welch, special judge Oklahoma County.

Re: Judges
Okay --- so you want to attack my lack of typing ability? What about the serious issue? The following is what was said on ripoffreport.com about Judge Allen J. Welch, Jr.
After going into court and trying to get every thing changed the judge would never let us bring up their past or present. We wanted to end these visits, after an adoption the child is no longer related to the bioligical family. one court date our lawyer brought up the fact that the judge couldnt make us use a parent cordnator if we couldn't afford one. Judge Welch read it in the court room and said well you know what I am going to make you go anyway. well every time we have been to court the Judges make up their own rules. Why don't they have to follow the law like every one else? If we break the law then we are held responsible for our actions.
I am not making this up. Make fun of my lack of typing ability all you want, but I have serious concerns about the judicial system. Apparently you don't. I'm sure it is more fun to make fun of people than to use this forum for discussion of serious issues.

Re: Judges
Josephine, you sound like a nut who just found out that she has to pay child support.
I went to the site, on his judicial page there are about 5 posts written by people who don't sound as if they would present well as pro se litigants. I am not surprised when people who represent themselves think the proceedings are unfair when the other side has an attorney. It's not fair, but that's not really the judge's fault.
Nothing that you have said impinges on a judge's ability to decide cases fairly. Not that he has been a public servant for the entirety of his career, not that he was the student of someone who may have committed a crime, not that 393 anonymous people have voted him a bad judge on the internet. You have not given any facts to support your argument, so why should anyone need to respond to you?

This is a non sequitur. What next, we judge Presidential candidates by the neighbors? I hope to hell I'm not judged by some of my instructors, some of them were horrid people. They were Republicans.

Fox News would call that Fair and Balanced because most other judges show a bias quite the opposite. If you have evidence of criminal wrong-doing, go to the state bar association or the Attorney General's office, that's what they're there for. If not, please, go grind your ax elsewhere, I think I and my wife and daughter are the only other Oklahomans on
