Fox News invents time machine
They must have one. That's the only way they could have covered the Million Man March a year before Fox News was even founded:
Quote:
CAVUTO: Just a reminder, we are going to be right in the middle of these protests because at FOX we do not pick and choose these rallies and protests. We were there for the Million Man March, even though, as I pointed out, it turned out to be well shy of a million men. We were there for the Iraq War protest, and the protest against the Iraq War protest. So see, we really don't decide what populist causes matter. Just that when a whole lot of people gather, in a whole lot of towns and cities across America, it is indeed worth checking out, not just shutting down. Which is why we are in Sacramento on April 15 for the one of the biggest of these, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time.
Unfortunately for Cavuto, the people at NewsHounds did one of those things where you go and you "look up" the available facts and "verify" them for "accuracy."
Neil Cavuto has been defending FOX News' coverage of the upcoming tax day tea parties by repeatedly suggesting that FOX News gave similar coverage to the Million Man March. But the Million Man March occurred October 16, 1995 whereas FOX News was not operating until October 7, 1996, nearly a year later.
This should make for a very awkward correction.

Rightwing nutjobs are holding little "Boston Tea Parties" around the country, to protest the stimulus bill.
Which few if any of them have read or understand.
But it's an excuse to hate Democrats, whisper conspiratorically about crypto-moooslims, and shine their boots & shotguns.
Fox Noise is all over that, baby.

When teabagging doesn't work, they'll be back with the Cleveland Steamers.

There's a group teabagging scheduled in Raleigh on Wednesday, and I'm tempted to go take some pictures. I don't know who wrote the description: "Please make plans to attend this tea party and show support against government spending!" How do you show support against doing something?

Uh oh, someone move this thread to the unsearchable subforum before Chuck's post turns up on Fox as evidence that teh ACORNs are infiltrating the patriotic teabag parties.

Re: Fox News invents time machine
Correct me if I'm wrong, but are the teabaggers protesting raising taxes on the rich?
Because the teabaggers look mostly like people who will get a tax cut under Obama's proposals. So they're upset that the highest brackets are returning to their Clenis-era* percentages?

Re: Fox News invents time machine
Sure, most of them will get a tax cut now, but most of them are also sure they'll be buying that plumbing business they've always dreamed of just as soon as they get some money from somewhere, and they're sure as fuck not going to want to pay the confiscatory marginal rates that ruined our economy during the Clenis years once they've made the big time.

I've had enough of you barking moonbats and your socialist jagoffery. First of all, everyone knows that taxation is a disincentive to work. No one in this country would willingly and knowingly accept an income over $40,000 per year. No one. Why? Because above $40K per annum taxes ensure that you're actually taking home LESS MONEY, that's why. Once your annual income hits $40,000.01 it's actually cheaper not to work at all. FACT.
So enjoy your "tax cut," sparklepants. It's likely the only "raise" you'll ever get that doesn't bankrupt you.
Second, taxation is slavery. That's right, slavery. Never mind theft; it's slavery. It's such egregious slavery that the Internal Revenue Code violates the Thirteenth Amendment. A "cut" in slavery doesn't make the slavery anything other than slavery.
Third, taxes take away money that I otherwise would have had available for charitable giving. The welfare queens would enjoy their free air conditioning, cable teevee and bling much more if they knew it came from the goodness of someone's heart rather than being stolen from de facto (and de jure ) slaves.
Of course, none of this applies to national defense. The taxes supporting that noble endeavor are a different animal entirely.

Show up with a sign supporting the elimination of wasteful Pentagon projects.
Imagine the cognitive dissonance in the face of the conservo-retards as they try to figure out whether you agree with them or not -- now THAT will certainly be worth photographing.

I actually had to explain the concept of marginal tax rates to my mom over the weekend. Mom is an intelligent person who used to be a manager at a freakin' bank, so it's not like financial concepts are beyond her grasp. Why do people not get this?

Re: Fox News invents time machine
actually I love them comparing these little get togethers with the boston tea party. one is planned by the retarded young republicans at uga, and some dipshit for the group said that they, the aforementioned, dipshits were going to protest increased taxation just like our forefathers did at the boston tea party.
I was shocked, I had no idea that the city of athens wasnt in a congressional district and didnt have representation in congress.

And yet, even if they were in DC (where they actually don't have a vote in Congress), I would still think they were retarded.
But a little less so. Of course, Republicans seem to be pretty fine with DC not having representation cuz after all, it's only black people (aka Democrats).

Re: Fox News invents time machine
I do note that Urban Dictionary already has an updated secondary definition for 'Teabagger',
2. n. A conservative activist who is so ignorant that they protest against tax cuts (that benefit them) by throwing tea into a river."
I'm sure that's why all the smirks.
Right?

There will be one in my town tomorrow evening. Knowing the folks around here, it might actually be well-attended, though.
Fortunately, because of where it will be I can probably get some good shots from a higher vantage point and not have to "go among them".
