But really, what do cast iron skillets cost in whatever godforsaken hellhole you live in? Because HERE IN AMERICA, you can totally get one at the K-Marts for like $10.
I need a new cast iron skillet. Gave mine away to a young cousin who wanted to make fried chicken or something. The damned thing needed to be re-cured anyways.
I have cast iron skillets, but I'm a lazy butt and they are a PITA to clean and keep clean so I use the teflon covered stuff which has been secreted into the house by others.
Really.
I have some of that fancy Cruet stuff and I like it...but I've burned rice in a couple of them (BRC), so they have permenant interior blemishes. They still work well for multiple purposes, thanks to lots of soaking and elbow grease.
To clean a cast iron skillet all you have to do is boil some water in it for a couple of minutes then pour it out and wipe dry. You don't need soap or anything. If you want to be sure it stays nice and silky, heat it up again, wipe a very thin layer of oil on it and let it cool.
How can you people not have any cast iron!?! Are you barbarians!?!
Are you sure you're in the south CC? 'Cause lack of cast iron skillets sounds odd.
I have three sizes of cast iron skillets, small, regular and "OH MY FUCKING GOD!"
Dingfod the Barbarian doesn't own even one cast iron skillet or cooking vessel. Dingfod the Barbarian does own Lifetime™ stainless steel cookware purchased 32 years ago, cookware with several layers of stainless steel and aluminum encasing a carbon steel core bottom for even heat distribution.
The iron skillet thread is thatta way (Click for thread of lesser importance). This is the thread to worship the awesome awesomeness that is homemade chicken pot pie. REKANIZE!!!

Take it out of the freezer, take it out of the box, take off the wrapper and nuke it.
