Since I kind of had a melt down in the piss and rant thread, I thought I'd balance by posting some things in here.
The bid I put in on the house I want was accepted by the bank yesterday. The same day, the money for the down payment and a few etceteras arrived in the mail. (I'm talking a loan from my 401K).
MT and I went over to a friends house yesterday for a some BBQ with a small group of people. We had a great time! I actually got my face in the sun and for the first time in many, many years, it felt good.
Today, we found one of the etceteras; a sectional couch that we both like that should fit in the new living room. And...it's on sale! So, I'll be spending about $400 less than I planned to which means more money for other etceteras.
Best of all, I gotten some really good sleep for two nights in a row.

It's been muggy and hot outside for most of the day but it's raining now. I was so happy to see the rain that I went outside and stood on the deck, letting it pour down over me. Ahhh! The thunder sounded pretty far off so I wasn't worried about being hit by lightning. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gone out there in the first place.
Now I've come into the house and shut off the ceiling fan because it felt cold on my wet skin. Ha!
When it stops raining I'ma going back out there and enjoy the fresh clean air that inevitably results from a summer shower.
Was at the Circus Parade in Milwaukee yesterday, and was taking a bathroom break at the museum close by. In the main hallway of the museum, there are posters set up showing some IMAX features (about space). A little, little girl was pushing her empty play stroller, holding her baby under her arm (a rather heavily used, grey and black stuffed zebra). As she followed her mother down the hall and out the door, her mother pointed out the posters to her, each placed above her head. She promptly pulled out her pet, and held him up to look at the posters, too. It was beyond cute.
A little back story. Our 13 year old couch is literally falling apart and it's pretty damned nasty since we were heavy smokers for 11 of those 13 years. (Yeah, we had it cleaned but there's only so much that can do.) Anyway, everytime over the last couple of years that I put money back for a new couch something would happen and suck that money right out of the bank account.
That didn't happen this time and we got a sectional that we both really like. It will be delivered in about 10 days.

It was a difficult day, which is why my eyes look funny. We've come through much trouble, and though not entirely trouble-free, we are in charge of our own lives and very happy to be together. He is a sweetie pie and I am very lucky.
Though I would like to believe I look better in real life than I do in that photo, I suspect I actually look worse. I was quite happy when you took that picture. It was really nice to be with you that day, especially after the hard part was done with.
