The 55-year-old father of four says he broke the law, putting people at risk, so he owes the public an explanation.

Ashburn has consistently voted against gay rights measures since he was elected to the state Assembly in 1996.

I'm just in awe at how many there have been.

Didn't someone come up with the Haggard Principle, named after ill-fated preacher Ted Haggard? It went something like "the likelihood of someone being a homosexual is directly proportional to the amount of anti-gay rhetoric they spew".

I think its actually directly proportional to the amount of jizz that incidentally flies from their mouth while they are vehemently vilifying homosexuality.

and just what are gay rights since being gay only refers to sexual preference? perhaps gays should work on being accepted, but like every other group that fights from the position of victim and minority...well...you lose.

well here's a thought-

fight for equal rights and make your enemy state publicly why they are denied to you. don't fight for gay rights and demand them because you are gay- fight for them because you are humans and force your opponent to give its own bad press.

ever notice you don't hear much reason given from those opposed to gay rights...they sorta just let the gays do the talking for them.

being gay has definitely jumped the shark.

No, I don't particularly want to parse phrases out of context with you. Sorry. "Gay rights" has a historical meaning. I know ignoring contextual details in favor of toking up and pondering, like, what do the words "gay" and "right" even, like, mean, is sort of your thing, but I don't want to play.

here's an example of gays jumping the shark...

i work with this fun but self-destructive and sometimes annoying guy (that likes other guys but isn't into the whole gay culture) that does a lot of blow and drinks like a fish. he makes a fool of himself quite often. another guy i work with says he gives gays a bad name.
