Default Auto Destruct Sequence... Initiated

Just to let everyone know. My lifelong depression, usually just background noise, has been somewhat stronger of late. This runs in cycles and I'll ride it out as in the past. However, I'll try not to mope all over the boards or get snarky at anyone. If something slips through, please accept this as a preemptive apology.

Was that inappropriate? You're a black comedy kinda guy, so it seemed fitting.

I'll be glad to inundate you with hugs and kitten smilies if you'd prefer that, though.

Step aside, amateur.

Ymir's blood, I think it's really kind of you to alert us to the potential for snark. You're sweeter than a :kitten:. Please be very careful as you ride it out. :badday: Very, very careful. :huggle:

Meanwhile, I got you some more toys. :skell: :smskull: :skulfire:

I know what you're going through, Ymir's blood. My depression seems cyclical, both seasonal (perhaps Seasonal Affective Disorder and it's heretofor unknown opposite: Summer Affective Disorder, aka too much daylight and not enough sleep) and maybe even monthly cycles.

I'm sorry to hear you're depressed, YB :(. Hang in there; hopefully this will be a cycle as before and you'll come out of it again in time.

Sound words. Keep posting.

Even though we have opposite seasons I've found the same thing over the past couple of weeks. I think low-level viral infections and consequent unending tiredness and headaches may be a part of it for me.

Apart from forgiveness for moping etc, would you appreciate anything else? Generic words of good advice, like getting enough sleep & exercise (ahem...), not binging on the booze? Useless platitudes like "try smiling", "other people are worse off than you"? Or distractions like deep interesting threads/frivolous long threads?

I saw a picture of a kitten yesterday and didn't even feel anything. :(

Thanks, I will, mostly by trying to stay occupied.

It is usually worse for me in the Summer though usually work helps keep me busy. This year there is nothing to do but kill time. Also, my birthday is this month, and that has always been depressing, not due to the aging thing but rather from too many birthdays spent alone as a child.

Thanks. I don't think this is anything major. In the past my worst times have always been triggered by at least one major problem in my life. That is pretty much absent this time. Nothing is wrong in my life right now, though of course that doesn't mean that everything is great.

It's Winter for you, isn't it?

Being sick can definitely bring one down.

Sleep would be nice. I couldn't sleep last night. My mind just refused to slow down. It wasn't stuck on personal problems or anything deep, just kept building castles in the air when it should have been lurking quietly in the ruins.

I bought some OTC sleep meds today. They've helped in the past.

I'm too tired tonight to be snarky. Maybe tomorrow.

Today has been pretty ugh, after not sleeping well last night.

The weather isn't helping either. It isn't hot, so far as most people would consider it, but too much for me. I think Boone may have hit eighty today and the humidity is much too high.

The major symptoms have been, not having an appetite, personal inertia making it hard to do anything and an even more extreme than usual predispostion to being sad. Something might cheer me up briefly, but then it's back downhill again. Maybe when the weather changes and my birthday is past, things will return to something closer to normal.
