Default Unhealthy recipes

Here's a recipe a friend of mine told me that he and a friend came up with one time when they were discussing what it is possible to deep fry:

You will need (don't know the amounts):
large strawberries
cream cheese
lemon juice
frying oil
ingredients necessary for waffle batter

Make the waffle batter, but make it thicker than usual.

Mix the cream cheese with some lemon juice. Cut off the stems of the strawberries and remove part of the middle. Put the lemon cream cheese in the hole.

Dip the strawberries in the waffle batter so that they are coated.

Then deep fry them.

My friend said it was one of the most delicious things he's ever made.

I haven't tried it myself tho... I'd like to.

fried cheese... I love the stuff, I dont cook it very often though.

basicly take a slice of cheese ( i liek extras sharp cheddar)then coat tehm in bread crumbs, and fry them oil till tehy start to get crisp

cheese slices (not to thick)
flour
egg
bread crumbs
oil for frying

in coating the cheese, it helps if you wet the cheese a bit to get the flour to stick, then dip it in the egg, and then in the bread crumbs

fresh fried pork skins....I believe some of you southerners call em craklins, or pork rinds...good stuff

I dont like the stuff thats sold in the bags, as i like the pork skins to have bit of softness to them still and not be super crisp....it just means i haven't cooked out as much of the fat.

basically take you fresh cured pork skin, and scrape off any hair if theres any left, then on the other side remove any muscle tissue if you dont plan to eat them all right away, as muscle will cause it ti spoil faster than the rest of the stuff.

ok, chop up the skins into bite sized squares (keeping in mind they will shrink), and in a large pot keep adding crisco until there is about 1/2 inch of it melted on the bottom of the pot. when the oil is hot, toss in the skins, as they cook the fat in them will start to melt (much like bacon)...basicly deep fry em in there own fat till they just start to brown, longer if longer if you want them crisper. and then pull them out and enjoy

and the best part...all that left over fat can be strained, and used as lard in other delicouse but unheathy meals...my grandma has been cookng with pork lard her whole life. oh man do I miss her cooking. ps she's 92, thin and still going strong, all that fat hasn't harmed her at all.

warning: This is something best cooked out doors on propane burner, as there is a high risk of oil fires, and splatter

In a nice fire toasted flour tortilla, fresh jalpeños or a good salsa (the Thai red stuff is excellent with a chicharrone's rollup). :yum:

It's a good thing it's not that easy to get real chicharrones. The packaged ones really aren't worth the calories, so I don't indulge in them.

Ah this is my kind of thread!

Anything involving cream cheese, chillis and breadcrumbs deep fried gets my vote. THere's a pub near here that sells them like that and I have them whenever I happen to be eating there :D

Something similar to the OP recipe; take breakfast link sausages, cook them, and coat them with waffle or pancake batter and deep fry them... works great if you make them on skewers kinda like a mini corndog but for breakfast.
Great recipe if you're cooking breakfast for a lot of people

Christ, I thought Eggs in a Basket and butter bacon was unhealthy.

Well, in the UK it is. In Scotland it's the equivalent of a green salad.

Anyways, not really unhealthy, but not exactly healthy either

Butter bacon and poached egg on toast.

Whip up a pan of rapidly boiling water, and vinegar or lemon juice and turn the heat down to simmer.

Push cling film into a cup, add 5 drops of tabaso sauce, salt, a little garlic and some chili pepper (dried and crushed is easiest).

Crack an egg into the cling film

Pull out a frying pan, put it on a medium heat and whack a knob of butter into it.

Tie the clingfilm round the egg and lower it into the water

Pop the toast on

Get the butter to cover the entire bottom of the pan. Pull out some smoked bacon and cut it into squares. Pour the bacon into the pan and quick fry it

When the toast pops up, turn the heat off on the eggs, butter the toast, scatter the bacon over, pull the eggs from the water, remove the clingfilm and place on top of the toast (use a spoon, tongs or pasta fork as required)

Season according to taste and enjoy.

Now, if you want to make it unhealthy, fry the bread so it is totally submerged in oil.

Not exactly a deepfried marsbar, but what can I say? I'm not a fat fucker.

... I don't think so.

Maybe if it was the same thing but with ham or some kind of real meat.

Here's a chip dip that will clog your arteries but... yum!

1/2 cup Chili Sauce
8oz Cream Cheese (softened)
1/2 cup Mayonnaise (or Mircle Whip)
1 tsp dried onion
2 tsp horseradish
4 1/2oz cooked shrimp (little ones or chop up big uns)

Blend chili sauce gradually into cream cheese. Mix in mayo, onion and horseradish. Fold in shrimp. Cover and chill for at least an hour. This is one of those things that tastes even better if you leave it over night so everythings flavors blend together.

Grab a bag of those ruffle potato chips and try not to eat all of it at once.

It looks like ewww...all pink and lumpy but :yum:
