And who would run this private educational system?

The same types of people that run our food distribution system. We get lots of variety, much high quality, at a historically low cost.

No, once again you will set up a tiered system where not all men are created equal.

Why do you hate America?

Great idea! Run down and take a look at some factory farms and feed lots and let me know when you want to hand your kids over.

You are trolling me, Jerome, nobody can truly believe the things you claim to believe.

You said you wanted education run like the food industry.

Why not just export the kids to China, they can educate them cheaper I'm sure.

I'm still wondering if JEROME has actually met any parents other than his own.

He's evaded that question twice now.

What makes you think he has ever met them? I think it is pretty obvious that he doesn't even know who his father is.

He he. See if it was a private charter school, they could have defrauded the public of much more!

:drevil:

Private industry FTW!

Source:
FBI — Former CEO of Charter School Sentenced to 37 Months on Fraud, Theft, and Tax Charges

One of my favorite parts about this was that the information came out as parents were told there wasn't any money to fund the special education for disabled students.

Investigating Charter Schools Fraud In Philadelphia | WBUR & NPR

Also business people run schools like they run business, to enrich themselves, not the actual learning.

Quote:
Let me start by saying that charter schools are kind of like an entrepreneurial approach to education.

Ms. WOODALL: Right. Right.

GROSS: Where does the entrepreneurial part come in?

Ms. WOODALL: Well, the entrepreneurial part comes in, in part because they also were seen - some of the charter advocates thought, you know, if we're going to make all the schools better, there needs to be competition. They need to compete in a marketplace, in an educational marketplace. And as a result of that kind of philosophy, they attracted a lot of people who were former businesspeople who wanted to get involved in education and could apply business practices to education.

And I think what arose from that philosophy in too many cases - or an unfortunate number of cases - was that people were viewing these as businesses, and they were figuring out ways to make money and obtain large management fees. And a lot of the schools have accumulated large reserves which have been used for ways that don't really enhance the outcomes for students and sometimes enrich the people at the top.

Good, I'm glad you agree that we should have a public education system funded by society (via taxes) that is accessible to all free of charge.

Jerome, who/what is stopping private industry from opening/supporting private schools and backing charter schools to compete with public schools?

Also, charter school fraud is widespread, hardly limited to one man. Google it.

Also if Jerry SOTORO, had read the article (:foocl:, I know as if!) he'd find the second article was about a study of wide spread fraud and poor test scores at charter studies in multiple states.

Yo, twit...She's satirizing your approach of claiming that public schools are corrupt because of one or more corrupt administrators. And, as she clearly points out, by the very logic YOU began this thread, private schools are condemned even more than public ones.

I'm not particularly involved in the whole 'charter schools' discussion, but at this juncture, I have to ask what level of financial transparency applies to these 'institutions'?

'Charter schools' seem to require infusions of large amounts of public cash, rather than rely upon raising their own revenues. How is that any improvement upon public schools? It seems to me that it is just another way to divert vast amounts of public monies through the hands of fewer select individuals than did the public school financial administration and a LOT less oversight.

The result is that corruption is even greater. Whoa...big surprise. (NOT!)

Public funding but private management is usually how charter schools work, though private grants and funds are often in the mix. But yeah, less oversight + lots of money = corruption

Hmmm...Given recent experience with corrupt politicians and public figures making their big splashes in the media pointing out the corruption, misadventures and chicanery of others (legitimately or not) before their own hypocrisy and corruption is revealed, I'm beginning to wonder what tills JEROME has his grubby mitts in....no?

The Gates Foundation is heavily into charter schools, if that gives you any idea the kind of money we're discussing

Any nonprofit receiving govt cash here gets audited to the bone, annually. Does that not happen in the US?
