House Republican leaders have condemned Greene's history of making racist comments. "The comments made by Ms. Greene are disgusting and don't reflect the values of equality and decency that make our country great," House Minority Whip Steve Scalise said in a statement after she finished first in the primary. "I will be supporting Dr. Cowan."

I like how he didn't say her comments don't reflect the values of Republican voters, because obviously, they do!

I am not posting every good thing on Qanon I read or watch, but it just keeps getting bigger and weirder and stupider, and it's making me very nervous how mainstreamed it's becoming.

So here is your homework:

This article from the Atlantic does a really good job of explaining the basic premises and how it pulls people in.

And this meta-conspiracy about the roots of the conspiracy is very scary and makes a pretty compelling case.

BUT if you're for some reason not going to dutifully read those longish articles even though I told you to, at least watch this video.

So this QAnon and related stuff has cropped up in NZ. We've always had a conspiracy crowd, but this thing is apparently picking up legs. There's a new political party pushing it and apparently it's taking root among Māori. Good article on this phenomenon here: The rise of MÄ�ori MAGA - E-Tangata

I've been thinking the only solution may be to start a "Y" conspiracy, where the information that "Y" leaks is just facts about real things happening in the world, but dressed up in a way that makes it sound like something nobody else is talking about.

Well that sounds quite similar to a Schizophrenic episode. Which is a big concern with the internet’s history of prodding and gawking at these things, I’m sure there are people pushing qanon for the Lulz to see what ‘crazy’ people do and don’t really believe it so much as want to see the cluster fuck that it produces.

I do wonder though if the sudden heavy push by qanon about pedophiles is because we might be about to hear about a bunch of conservatives involved in actual child sex trafficking thx to the epstein lady, and want to muddy the waters.

It does kind of remind me of that whole gang stalking thing, where a bunch of delusional people found each other online and they got all crowdsourced. People with similar mental illnesses and such seem to be able to infect each other pretty easily and end up doing this big worldbuilding thing.

There are a bunch of videos of people, Qanons and 'targeted individuals,' who clearly seem to be like that. Some probably schizophrenic, some manic. And unfortunately, there are a lot that have gone viral and spawned memes and shit.

I hate it.

And honestly, I usually avoid even mentioning the gang stalking thing online because I don't want to play any part in spreading it. I have similar reservations with Qanon, but it's too late and too far gone now for that to matter.

I don't know who you talk to, but that is frankly not my experience. All of the conservatives that I see who are strong trump supporters parrot various bits of qanon garbage and lots of omg what about the children stuff.

It is true that many of them aren't critical thinkers, frankly, unless you are racist asshole, you can't be much a thinker and be a supporter of Trump who is an obviously venal dipshit thrall of Putin's who is also overtly racist and fascist, and they may not be aware that they are spewing qanon garbage propaganda, but that doesn't mean they won't spread it.

I'm sorry if my view of current trump supporters offend you, but I stand behind my assessment.

Ideologues find truth in things that support anything about their beliefs, so Trump fans will pass memes that support him even if they don't think of themselves as qanon supporters.

Like I said, not a lot critical thinking among the trumpists.

Now that I'm paying attention I do see possible indicators of q metastasis. On a recent 700 Club (fundy christian show, very right wing) there was a segment about some ex mil Special Forces type who has some kind of rescue hit squad for rescuing sex trafficked minors, so it's in line with the general q theme. Glob is telling him to do it though, not q.

Another instance was seeing a big billboard in rural Cecil County, Maryland about a human trafficking hotline, which seemed a rather odd thing to be concerned about in that bucolic neighborhood. One would think opioid abuse would be a more pressing social ill in the area.

The guy in the article, Craig Sawyer, is probably the guy from the 700 Club. He's kind of cagey about Q, but keeps amplifying it. A lot of people are doing that, like, they claim they're just reposting stuff, and not endorsing it.

And I've seen a couple examples so far of local media reporting about Save Our Children protests uncritically like they don't notice the big Qs and pizza slices on the signs.

This shit is seeping in through a lot of little cracks.

Turns out that a Texan who got hammered and tried to run people over with her car last week was a QAnoner looking to kill "pedophiles."

It's easy to dismiss this as a handful of bugfuck wingnuts, but that didn't work very well with the "Tea Party." To go along with the violent self-appointed foot soldiers, it's looking more and more likely that there'll be QAnoners in the next Congress as well as in many state legislatures.
