I do not think anyone who examines the evidence can come to the conclusion that there was no right-wing conspiracy to smear Bill Clinton.

It was not particularly vast, from my understanding. Hillary was wrong mainly due to thinking that a relatively small group of people could not pull off what she attributed to a "vast" group.

It was a few rich and rather powerful men, such as the staff of the American spectator, who lied, exaggerated, bribed people to do both....and, yes, occasionally actually reporting facts...who caused so much trouble for the man. The so called liberal media picked it up because it was "sexy.". This means that it would sell papers and increase ratings.

Ahh, Jerome. You know how easy it is to distort facts to make the story that the average Joe gets completely different from the actual story, you do it in your thread titles all the time. To great comedic effect, at times.

But no, if Obama loses, unless it is by the slimmest of margins, it will not be because of this memo,even if it is genuine. And I would lay odds that it is not.

Rove is running a conspiracy to hurt Democratic candidates, however. It is kinda his job description right now.

But I like how it paints expressing disagreement or criticism of the Obama Administration as undermining Obama and shoring up the Republicans. This is a thinly veiled message from a Kos poster to the base: shut up, toe the line, close ranks, we have an election to win so we can continue to be ignored by the Obama Administration as powerless captive voters unable to negotiate with an Administration busy trying to triangulate the "center".

The Democrats in the US do not require a right-wing conspiracy at all to make them ineffectual. They do that all by themselves.

Such a pity - I thought some sort of basic national medical insurance in the USA was a great idea, but the Republicans wasted no time in hamstringing this. So far Obama 1 has been full of nice ideas, but absolutely no feasible plan to actually execute them.

I wouldn't go so far as "moron" but that the so-called "average person" is not (willing to put the time and effort into) making logical choices is pretty apt.

As evidenced by the people "influenced" by Glen Beck, Fox News and the Tea Party, I would hardly say "leftists" have the market cornered here. The right seems far more dependent on this "average person is an illogical idiot" paradigm you put forth here than the left...

Ok, so I can't find a thread dedicated to the disappointment that is Obama. As I understand it, Obama would have preferred Gingrich as a Republican candidate. I can see why. Romney is the Obama of the right: he may talk like a Teabagger sometimes when he gets really desperate, but basically he is only interested in being president in order to be president and will talk out of every side of his mouth to get there.

Yeah. He will be running on the idea not that you're voting for Obama, but that you're voting against the Republicans. There will be a shit-ton of fear-mongering coming to get the base in line, especially all the youth votes, Black votes, Latino votes, and GBLT votes that showed up for 2008 but are pretty seriously unimpressed with the performance and may skip 2012.

The fear-mongering has some basis in reality, but then instead of getting 100% Republican, we'll just be getting someone who gives the Republicans what they want 90% of the time, and still the choice of the business elite and crony capitalist interests- who give to Dem and Rep alike, and get what they want most of the time either way. And still a president committed to a War on Terror, War on Drugs, domestic spying and crackdowns on whistleblowers, extra-judicial assassinations, saber-rattling or worse with Iran, weak-tea stimulus at home, Medicare and Social Security on the chopping block, austerity, no accountability (as yet) for the bankers perpetrating frauds that helped collapse the economy, etc.

Going off on a tangent here, be warned.

I think it would totally be in Hillary's interest to take the V.P. slot. If Obama gets elected with her as his running mate she and Bill can pull a Vince Foster on him and, voila!, Hillary is the pres. and she doesn't have to wait another four years for a chance at the job.

Also Marco Rubio can't be anyone's running mate because he is not eligible to be president. He's not a natural born citizen. I heard it on Fox, so it must be true.
