Default Explosion at French nuclear plant

ABC breaks news of the explosion. Three dead, chance of radiation leak.

I'll keep looking.

It isn't a reactor. Apparently they cook plutonium in an oven, one of which exploded.

The site is partly used by French nuclear giant Areva to produce MOX fuel which recycles plutonium from nuclear weapons. Part of the process involves firing superheated plutonium and uranium pellets in an oven.

Marcoule is a nuclear waste management site that does not include any reactors.

The French are totally in love with nuclear power. I wonder if this will change that. My guess is no.

I'd say no too. They get nearly 80% of their power from nuclear stations.

One dead in French nuclear site explosion - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Industrial accident, not a nuclear accident. No risk of a leak.
