Colbert 2012!!
Have you heard that Stephen Colbert is running for President of the United States of South Carolina, and that he transferred ownership of his SuperPac to Jon Stewart so it wouldn't legally be "coordinating" with his campaign? Well here's their first ad:

Re: Colbert 2012!!
The Daily Mail UK has an article that describes the content of the ad, and has a video of the ad at the end... that might be more likely to load and play outside the US. You know, for Australians whose vote would otherwise be lost. In the South Carolina Republican Primary.

Re: Colbert 2012!!
If Jon Stewart ran with Colbert as his say-anything-foot-in-the-mouth-VP-candidate, I'd vote for them. Lewis Black for press secretary. "Are you fucking kidding me?" would be the typical Whitehouse response.

We're doing it! Got the hotel room and everything. (love Hotwire!)
We're going to get on the road at the crack of 6 tomorrow, spend the night in town and hit up a grayline or something in the morning. Mini-vacation. Woo!

Re: Colbert 2012!!
Okay, that was fun!
C of C (GO COUGARS!) is a cute, tiny college in the middle of downtown. The crowd was a mix of students, cause-heads, Paultards, and other local politics enthusiasts including not an insignificant number of actual Cain supporters. The speechifiying and joke-making was light-hearted, short (about 45 minutes) and it was pretty clear that we were all just there so the one guy could shoot a bit for his show and the other guy could continue to be relevant and promote his brand and website. I'm looking forward to seeing the edited version on the TV on Monday.
After the rally we swung by the bookstore and the natural history museum and now we're at the hotel, decompressing and updating facebook. I feel like we've been in a time crunch since we decided to do this Thursday morning.
Tonight we're thinking about a fancy dinner and we still have all day tomorrow to enjoy the city. They couldn't have picked a better weekend for it, the weather is fabulous.

There's also some moon stuff from the museum. An antique hand-drawn moon map and some Russian space program posters.

This probably isn't very helpful, but I had a really good dinner at an Italian place downtown there the time that I visited. But I don't remember its name.

At one point when Herman Cain started pimping his website I just started laughing and giggling. It's called cainconnections and he was all like " I have an opportunity for you". I was just glad that my head was out of reach of his crotch

Re: Colbert 2012!!
Also c of c's bookstore is a Barnes and noble which I thought was interesting. Ed god a shirt andi got skull cap appropriately branded (c of c not b and n )
Also be forwarded the charleston Marriott is nice as is the restaurant but it's a mile and a half from anything.
Also a bit of fun, Jennifer and I dressed for dinner last night. And the bar manager commented on how cute we were. She had seen us earlier in casual apparel.
The hotel restaurant is sapphire and the food was really good as expected. We hope to get something more local today.

Re: Colbert 2012!!
B&N has taken over the operation of a lot of college bookstores. In the late 90s a lot of in-house bookstore operations started outsourcing to reduce costs, and B&N took over a lot of them. And a bunch of people lost their jobs.
