They love the baby but don't like the fact that they have to move and / or tolerate intolerance.
I can see now why people scoff at the phrase "love the sinner, hate the sin".

Re: Married lesbian couple: it's not a personal choice for us.
Bet that little girl grows up to be smarter than those TV ladies, though, so she won't get all flipped out about some silly semantic issue and will understand that her moms loved her enough to do the right thing for her, even in the face of intolerance both of her, and of their decision. I mean, kids who are even a little bit brown don't really have the option of growing up with the kind of naivete that white kids do. She is already experiencing the effects of racism, even though she's still pretty much a baby. Once she gets old enough to find out about the 'wrongful birth' suit, she'll understand perfectly well why her family needed to raise her in a better place.
The money they're compensated for their moving expenses will be going right into raising their daughter healthy and happy.
Anyways, here is a more detailed article about it, if not totally better, IMO:
White Mom's Lawsuit Over Black Baby Exposes Ugly Truths About White Privilege - Mic
So in a nutshell, what happened was that they did welcome their new baby. It certainly appears that they care far more about her than about the nonexistent white baby they'd intended; but as the child got older, they realized just how pervasive an issue race was going to be in her life, and even in her own family. So, on the recommendation of a therapist, they are retooling their entire lives--including the extended family they spend their time with and where they live--and that costs money.
And there's no question that these decisions--even if they're good decisions overall--were made necessary by malpractice on the part of the sperm bank. So it only makes sense that they should get compensation for the costs incurred by that mistake. The fact that they are undoubtedly happier with the baby they have doesn't mitigate the clinic's liability. You don't get to do that.
If you do something actionable to me that costs me money, I get to demand compensation even if I end up making my life better somehow as a result.

I've felt a bit cynical about this... thanks Lisapea for setting me straight!

It's pretty damn upsetting that they received the wrong sperm regardless of race. I thought that choosing the right donor was something that women were just a little bit picky about... I mean the ones that pay top dollar for sperm, not the ones that get it for free in nightclub bathrooms.

Some other places I've seen this posted are calling the lawsuit straight up racism. They don't care about the lying and malpractice of the sperm bank, it's just about the racist lesbians who didn't want a mixed raced baby. And this is supposed to be the tolerant and progressive section of that place.

Re: Married lesbian couple: it's not a personal choice for us.
Seriously though, isn't it a pretty clear violation that the sperm back impregnated her with more-or-less random sperm? I mean surely there is some basic standards for donors but still. It's not like they knew the original donor but at least that was the donor they chose instead of just some random donor.
Hell it seems like you could sue for malpractice and damages without any reference to race.

The hypocrisy makes me a bit knuts.
You have reporters bailing on Ferguson as soon as it even looks like the cops might get racist and violent, but if it's a lesbian couple that's maybe kinda being racist, then they wag their finger in shame.
Liberal news my ass!

You know, you leave it there hoping, but you never really know whether anyone will be interested. This is good to hear.
