Default Flash floods in Yorkshire

Yes, I'm postslutting some news articles that have grabbed my attention.

Residents hit by flash floods that struck North Yorkshire are beginning a massive clean-up operation.

It sounds horrendous, for Britain. Anyone affected or nearby? Moose? My parents in London know about as much about it as I do; they're still baking in muggy 32deg heat.

The comments posted on that article emphasise to me what a basic infrastructure we have here in SA. A two-hour power outage every week in summer is nothing to comment on. Phone lines down for only a day is a cause for celebration. It's only counted as serious here when we have bridges washed away and people giving birth in trees. (OK that was Mozambique.)
