Lately when I've bought it at all, I've bought the Healthy Choice variety, which comes in a cylindrical container so I'm not sure - but probably half gallon, or Ben and Jerry's which is also cylindrical, but probably pint size. I have no idea what any of this means to a metricoid.

Edy's also comes in the cylindrical containers. Their new slow churned varieties are very good! :yup:

I like the chocolate ice cream that also contains little nuggets of pure chocolate, and little tiny chocolate flavoured biscuits (american: cookies) and has a softer darker chocolate cream topping.

Two words: home made

Don't care what flavor in particular but home made ice cream is so good.

My father ends up making quite a bit during the summer, for family get togethers.

Vanilla for topping stawberry shortcake or berry cobblers (usually a mix of raspberry, marions, boysens and huckle berries)
Strawberry or Marion Berry, using fresh berries from the garden
In a pinch we can get by with strawberry freezer jam/syrup but fresh is always better.

I also noticed the not-really-half-gallon half gallons. What a rip-off! Gimme ALL my ice cream, ratzit!

Oh yeah... My parents used to make homemade ice cream in one of those big copper things with the rock salt. Do you know the contraption I'm talking about?

My favorite was my father would make honey vanilla ice cream, then bake some flat chocolate sheet cookies, slap the ice cream between two of them, wrap them in wax paper and pop them in the freezer. Homemade ice cream sammiches rule.

You are so right. HomeMade puts other so called "Premium" flavors of ice cream to shame. Well, maybe except for Baskin Robbins Peanut Butter N' Chocolate - it's like a giant squishy gooey cold peanut butter cup!

That's a pretty good idea. :chin: Do you plan which flavors you'll combine in any given bowl or just toss in whatever you've got?

IBC is too perfect to dilute with ice cream. It must only be drunk from a well-chilled -- possibly even frosted -- original bottle.

Ahh, all too true. Between the hanger steak and now this, I have no doubts that you are true gourmand (not that there was ever any ambiguity on that score).

It is heartening to see that your refined tastes encompass everything from the glorious food to wonderful smileys.

This is a common ploy in other products; change the size of the package so it contains fewer items, and hope you won't notice. I DID notice about the ice cream packaging. There's something traditional about pint, quart and half-gallon. You're right, they're cheating. I'm not buying one of those non-half-gallon half-gallons. You know any manufacturers to write to? Is there a consumer campaign we can join?
