Default Patrick Fitzgerald's Website

http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/iln/osc/index.html

What Salon.com says about it:

Quote:
Fitzgerald has just set up a Web site. The site features a heading for "Legal Proceedings," but there's only one "legal proceeding" under it: the one concerning the fight over the testimony of Judy Miller and Matt Cooper. Sure seems like there's room there for more.

Fitzgerald's office says not to read anything into the launch of the Web site, but it's hard not to do just that. Without indictments or an extension, Fitzgerald's grand jury expires on Oct. 28. As [Dan] Froomkin says, launching a Web site now doesn't seem like "the action of an office about to fold up its tents and go home."

So, while alphamale gloats that the White House has escaped justice and accountability once again, I'm not so sure.

I don't think it's over yet.

Well, but, there is another legal proceeding now: Libby. I think Fitzgerald is still investigating Rove but I doubt he's going to indict him now. Isikoff points to a last minute email ex machina which stopped Fitz's from indicting Rove as well as Libby. Seems flimsy to me, but lawyers are weird.

Jesus, those people are slippery!

I really hope Fitzgerald is playing this very carefully and cleverly, and that sometime before the 2006 midterm election thingies, he exposes them in all their putrid corruption for all to see.

Is there any subtlety or legal reason why Novak's just walking away from this while Miller went to prison? Or is it entirely and exactly the screaming double standard that it appears to be? Legal minds, opinion?

My theory is Novak blabbed. He sat his chickenshit pinstriped ass down in front of the grand jury and told Fitz everything he knew. That's a nice and easy way to duck contempt charges.

That's what Froomkin is saying, too. :yup:
