Default anyone see Dick Clark?

Not to sound mean, but I tuned into Dick Clark on new Years Eve and all I can say is it isn't true the man doesn't age.

He was out last year for some reason I forget, a stroke or something? Man, the guy couldn't even speak clearly.

I feel bad for his experience, but it is time to toss in the towel, Dick.

I don't think the network really wanted him on, they just kept showing commercials the whole time to try and keep him from talking.

Oh, Mariah Carey performed. She is definitely a has been too.

Just a really sad ending to 2005 witnessing the end of Mariah and Dick at the same time.

"Thus stroke is the third leading cause of death and leading cause of adult disability in the US and industrialized European nations (Jauch, 2005), and is a medical emergency."

My mother deals with stroke patients everyday as part of her job. Many can't swallow correctly because of the damage done. I think not being clear isn't as big a deal.

Although they probably should get some new blood.

Poor Dick. but at least he is trying and not sitting withering away somewhere. Takes a lot of courage to go back on television after what he has been though.

I agree, especially considering how strongly identified he was with the meme about his agelessness. Good on him for being real.

I think a lot of people wanted Dick *giggle* to be part of the festivities b/c he is part of a long-standing tradition. Many probably didn't know about his condition (i, for one).
It was heartbreaking to see him work so hard to do something he has easily done for so long. Hera give him strength!

Aw, poor Dick. I'm sympathetic, but I can't say I really care too much. As far as I can tell he's famous for hosting music shows and looking young. Not extraordinary accomplishments by any measure.

Mariah, on the other hand, I love. Not only does her inhumanly high voice rock my world, but she managed to keep on plugging through a nervous breakdown and the massive bomb that was the film about her life. May she live forever.

Up until his stroke hit him last year, Dick Clark was ageless. But dammit, we knew it couldn't last forever.

I haven't watched his Rockin' Eve show in years; probably not since the 80s when I last cared about pop music. Hell, the last time I saw him was in 1st class as I made my way to coach on a New York to Nashville flight. (He looked young in person, too.)

But last night I just had to see him on TV, to see how he was doing. His condition broke my heart but his personal courage in going on, anyway, was admirable.

Mariah? Ugh, I don't care for the screaming style of singing; never have.

I wish she would find the note and quit singing all around it.
