Because I'm sick of turkey sandwiches and Campbell's chunky soup I've been indulging in fast food or hitting the vending machines at work so much lately my pants are shrinking.
Ooooh, cheese. I like cheese, Gromit. I had cheddar cheese sliced off a big block, an Atkin's bar, and a protein shake for lunch yesterday. Today, leftover sirloin steak.

I've been doing the same thing vm. Just not enough time to sit down to a decent meal. But, I've got to go to the DMV today, so I think I'll skip lunch.
Subway does a sammich-of-the-day special. You're stuck with whichever is the special for the day, but if you just get the 6" version, w/o chips or carbonated corn syrup, you're out of there under $3. Just don't go on Wednesdays, since that's turkey day.
Deli sliced chicken sammich with american cheese and honey mustard. *pokes sammich* I wonder if anyone in the office is going to Chik-fil-a for lunch....waffle fries are calling me.. * curses wanders off to ask/
Today for lunch we had black bean minestrone soup, with Parmesan and garlic croutons, made by me. It turns out that transporting minestrone soup in an empty sour cream container, placed inside a silk shantung messenger bag, on a bicycle, is a bad idea.
Hastily moving on, my coworker and I have a deal going where he brings our lunch Monday and Tuesday and I bring lunch Wednesday and Thursday. We're both avid, thrifty punk-rock cook types, we work in a cafe, and we're sick of eating (and paying for!) greasy cafe food for lunch every day, so we have a bit of an informal competition going to see who can come up with the best and most unusual cheap, tasty, savory lunch. Mike has the edge here, because he has a picky roommate with IBS, so he gets to unleash his best creations on me instead -- I haven't been able to top his squash-and-garbanzo-bean tacos in pico de gallo-flavored corn tortillas.
Part of the game is figuring out how to prepare our lunches with the available equipment. We have devised a million ways to use a panini press, apart from producing panini -- though the cafe owner gave us hell the time I tried to cook bacon, onions and eggplant slices in there. (All the customers wanted whatever we were eating.)
I'm in a breakfast state of mind, but I think lunch will probably be soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Either that, or we'll be eating icky fried food from the ball park. It is always so freaking hard during baseball and football season to keep from gaing weight. The scent of the fries and corndogs are always so tempting.
Today we went to a birthday party held in a party room at a bar, they had a little buffet set up with caesar & garden salad, platters of wings, baskets of home made fried potatoes, carrots & celery with blue cheese dip & a platter of nachos. It was very simple and very tasty.
I'm not sure what KD is, but it wasn't the boxed mix kind. It was like this one with cheddar, mozarella and parmesan cheeses and bowtie pasta this time.
