Sitting in the garage saving you from a peppy sports car coupled with a lead foot. I remember my old TR6 and my leadfootitis. Fortunately I never had a ticket; I should have though.

Now the contract signing is "imminent" and they still expect a complete transition by the end of August.
There is some good news, we do know who is going to be re-badged as an HP employee on this contract. Holy fucking surprise it is the senior management team. Total fucking surprise there. 20 people out of ~380 being outsourced have guaranteed jobs and they are mostly the people in favor of the outsourcing. Don't you just love corporate America?

HP do this. ...
A good reason to avoid using HP printers whenever possible.

In Nov-Dec I worked with a client of HP's ... they were still in "transition" three years after commencement.
Mind you ... I'm currently working with another outsourcing company on a client where they are struggling to get a project called transition under way - and the five-year contract anniversary comes up in June. I have a feeling...

he fell asleep at the wheel
crossed the center line
and plowed 35 feet into the
remnants of snow in a field...
the car rode up on the packed
snow right to the frame... totally
filled the wheel wells and intruded
into the engine compartment
the deputy sheriff said there was
no indication of attempts to brake...
no.attempt.to.brake.
30 seconds later, he would have
plowed right into a stand of pine
and never even known he was dead
i am seriously too old for this shit

Re: Member News Discussion
i hope it didnt come off petty, me kvetching about $$,
because when he and i were driving back to "the scene"
yesterday morning, to meet the tow truck guy who was
going to pull the car out of the field.... i said to him
"i was so glad to hear your voice on the phone last night...
i was SO mad to be driving in the dark and the fog last night,
thru the stench of two dead skunks, and after 20 miles i was
thinking 'i couldnt have missed them, could i? the cops were
going to stay with him, how could i have missed them?' and
then i saw the reflections of the red and blue flashing lights on
the fog above the next hill and i knew when i topped that hill
i would see you again, and not be there to identify a body
and i started to cry.... so let me just be mad that i had to
think those things cos it is just one more way i can love you"
thank you, each and every...
love 'em like there is no tomorrow
ps @ shake: i quoted an now deceased vietnam vet that he had known
"ya know, if i had killed you the first time i thought about it, i would
be out on parole by now....
@watswer: i know, it is columnar, but it is easier for me to read....
sorry if the opposite is true for you, thanks for reading anyway

Re: Member News Discussion
Catch-22 there, though -- it's not just the expense of the exam, it's the time to prep for it. And that's equivalent to a full-time/overtime job in itself, but without getting paid for it. So she can't work a full-time job while going through that. Maybe she can work something out with the new employer, since they seem like pretty decent folks. But it won't be right away. Plus we have back property taxes to pay off first.
