Tufts University has just issued a new rule that students are not to engage in sexual activity while their roommates are in the room. Does there really need to be a rule for this?

Hm.

At my school, we had roommate contracts so that if you didn't want that to happen, you could have that to point to if it became a problem. If you didn't really care or you had a good relationship with your roommate anyway, you didn't need to make a contract about it.

Some people don't really care that much as long as it's not too distracting and it doesn't wake you up... :shiftier:

Are young folks today so incapable of setting rules with one another that they need to petition the university to set the rules for them?

I'm wondering if this policy is a long-term effect of taking away unorganized play time for little kids. They don't know how to function in the absence of written rules.

A friend of mine in college, Heath, was rather flamboyantly gay. His roommate wasn't exactly shy, apparently, and would often bring girlfriends over to spend the night. Whether or not Heath was present didn't seem to have any influence on their sexual activities.

One evening, I came down into the lounge to see Heath sitting on the couch, looking unhappy. When I asked what was wrong, he replied, "You know, there's no sound on Earth more disgusting than that of two heterosexuals making love."
