Y'know, my brother always pointed out that Canada was proof of the United States' ultimate good intentions. I mean...Right next door. Common language (mostly). Common legal background. Vastly overpowered.
It really is a surprise that Canada continues to exist as a separate entity from the US.
And for that, I envy them.

Many comments on Canada. In December of 1775 the US Army under Generals Benedict Arnold and Richard Montgomery came within a heartbeat of capturing Quebec and the 14th British colony. In 1813 during the War of 1812 the US Army under General William Henry Harrison invaded Canada a second time near York. However, after early successes the Americans were booted out of Canada by British, Native Americans, and Canadian forces. Oh well, they say the third time is the charm. Canada here we come!

So, there was one of those vapid morning network "news" shows on the TV this morning, and they had a screenshot that read estimated US population, 299,999,999 and an announcer saying something like, "its estimate any minute now the 300 millionth US citizen will be born." Then the counter clicked over to 300,000,000 and I heard cheers and horns. It was surreal.

population by year
It goes from July 1, 1963, to July 1, 1964.
Being born in March of 1964, I am somewhere between 189,241,798 , and 191,888,791.
The difference in population in that year is 2,646,993. Divide that by 12 months, it's 220,583 per month. Times that by 8 months (July to Feb), that's 1,764,664
189,241,798 + 1,764,664 = 191,006,462
220,583 per month, divided by 31 days in March, comes to....let's see....7116 per day times 3 days equals....21,346.
191,006,462 + 21,346 = 191,027,808
There. Now I know what number American citizen I am. I feel better.
